OSP Design Engineer

TekCom is looking for OSP Design Engineers (Junior & Senior) in the Peoria, IL & St. Peters, MO areas. These are full time, direct hire positions in office. Will provide relocation packages for candidates willing to relocate.

For Junior Design Engineers, willing to train if you have had exposure to fiber designs/fiber projects and are interested in doing design work.

Description:

• Spearhead fiber route design projects for both aerial and underground, more of a focus on underground

• Develop high-level fiber designs from both desktop and field review

• Develop cost estimate models

• Develop right-of-way analysis of the proposed fiber plant, such as the identification of utility and permit applications needed for a project.

• Work with utilities in underground and aerial right-of-way applications

• Manage the contractor qualification process and bidding of engineering

• Assist with material ordering

• Manage multiple projects and ability to travel as needed (not often) to project locations across Illinois and Missouri in the management of project elements

• Develop, read, and manage fiber splice documents, including fiber splice diagrams, spider maps, OTDR and Power Meter readings

• Will deal with municipalities and assist with permitting

Qualifications:

• Previous experience designing aerial and underground fiber routes

• Established knowledge of underground cable design and placement, as well as building design where relevant for cable installation

• Understanding of established engineering practices for underground cable placement

• Experience with ArcGIS, CAD, 3GIS or other drafting/mapping software

• Ability to spearhead projects and manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Familiarity reviewing design specs and documentation
