OSP Engineer

We are looking for qualified OSP Engineer for the Mid-Atlantic Region to work remotely with travel requirements applied.

For this we need qualified individuals who have verifiable experience as an OSP Engineer or similar role with the following capabilities:

  • Perform all aspects of OSP engineering including but not limited to the engineering of feeder and distribution, F1, F2, F3, line extensions, new service orders, pole replacements and/or loading, facility installations, facility relocations, road moves and make ready.
  • Design fiber routes and layout counts including CATV HFC, FTTH, FTTP, FTTC & Ethernet;
  • Engineer all aerial, underground & inside copper, and/or fiber routes.
  • Attend on-site meetings with customers for site walks and provide requirements to the customer in a respectful manner and meet the client timelines associated with the site walk;
  • Understanding not only OSP design but also planning, construction, and the ability to perform a cost analysis to determine the most cost-effective and efficient manner of the placement of communication facilities.
  • Good understanding of outside plant installation and maintenance technician activities;
  • Determine the best pathway for cable placement and inform the designer of any roadblocks while identifying other utilities that may conflict.

Requirements

  • Degree in Telecommunications Engineering;
  • Previous experience designing fiber routes and layout counts including CATV HFC, FTTH, FTTP, FTTC & Ethernet;
  • Ability to travel 30%-50% of the time for work;
  • Experience working AutoCAD, MicroStation, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and database proficiency;
  • Knowledge of Katapult/IKE or other fielding software is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of Calix, Adtran & Cisco OSP/ISP/CPE system equipment is helpful;
  • Ability to perform a wide spectrum of complex assignments requiring alternative analysis, innovation, and judgment;
  • Ability to gather the necessary field information regarding aerial, buried, or underground OSP telecommunications cables and associated facilities in the design of work orders to place new network, utility poles, hand holes, terminals, cabinets, etc., or to modify the existing network;
  • Ability to identify existing copper and fiber telephone plant, electric, and other utilities on the site plan as well as in the field;

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • CATV HFC design: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Bentley OpenComms: 1 year (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 50% (Preferred)
