OSP Engineer Supervisor

Consolidated Business Services (CBS) has an opening for a full time OSP Engineer Supervisor.

Consolidated Business Services provides efficient and economical outsourced partnerships for telecommunications operations, to create a shared resource model that is more cost effective.

The primary purpose of this position is: Responsible for the supervision of construction, partnered contractors and engineering department. Develops records to allow reference, analysis, and monitoring of all outside plant components and equipment. Recommends major improvements to plant and equipment. Oversees construction, and engineering of outside plant facilities. These services may involve travel to various partner locations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for the overall successful supervision and coordination of engineering, construction, and partnered contractors including selection, training and development, performance supervision, appraisals, coaching, and wage actions to ensure company objectives are met.

2. Coordinates plant operations by assigning work, checking quality of work, answering questions, handling personnel issues and monitoring workflow to ensure timely completion of engineering, construction, placement, replacement, and removal of cable.

3. Reviews job quotes and determines priority of work to be performed.

4. Assist with developing and managing department budget, ensuring company financial objectives are met.

5. Assist with developing personnel to understand telecommunication engineering specifications, to include RUS, NESC, BICSI codes standards, best practices, and safety procedures.

6. Provides Director of Plant and Field Operations with plant related information regarding current plant status and ability for future expansion as requested.

7. Assist in developing long-range plans and budget forecasts for Plant facilities growth, including placement of aerial and underground copper, coaxial, fiber optics, wireless facilities, and remotes.

8. Develops and implements RUS standard 515 and 773 unit-based construction contracts for executing of all plant operation projects.

9. Partner with a variety of telecommunication companies to deliver and implements procedures with consistent applications that are shared throughout the partner companies.

10. Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required to fulfill job functions or as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years prior telecommunications experience. May include a combination of one or more of the following areas: Central Office, Plant Engineering, Outside Plant Facilities Construction.

· Must have knowledge of telecommunications construction and engineering practices and principals.

· Proficient in Excel and MS office, and understanding of Auto-Cad, NISC, ESRI, and Smartsheet.

· Knowledgeable in bonding and grounding requirements as described in the NESC code.

· Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.

· Basic understanding of Part 32 and Part 64 as they apply to outside plant construction, and engineering a plus!
