Job Description
Company seeking experienced Fiber Splicers and experienced Coax Spliciers in metro Atlanta area, with the ability to splice and test all types of fiber optic networks. Applicant should be experienced (2+ years) with CWDM/DWDM and PON components, MUX/DEMUX integration, field audits, and evaluation of all types of splicing Matrix. Job Responsibilities
- Basic knowledge with aerial and underground installation of coax and fiber cable, node design, fiber optic theory, connector types and different types fiber
- Have full knowledge in the use of fiber optic splice equipment (Fusion splicers, OTDR and fiber identifiers) and advanced tools used to perform installation.
- Perform ring cuts (mid sheath) on existing fiber cables.
- Proficient in the installation and testing of MUX/DEMUX filters.
- Create, modify, and interpret splicing matrix for projects
- Perform fiber prep, tray and splice all type of field enclosures (Tyco, Coyote/PLP and 3M)
- Ability to utilize bucket trucks and ladders when required to access aerial splice enclosures.
- Work in high traffic conditions with the ability properly setup signs/cones, control and direct traffic. Pass DOT health exam
- Possess good planning, organizational and logical problem solving skills
- Highly motivated and willingness to adapt shifting work hours when required
- Emergency response when storm damage or disasters cause network outages
Position Requirements: Able to perform physical labor ( lift in excess 75 pounds) in outdoor all types of weather environments. Pull fiber in conduit or attach fiber in buildings when necessary
- Able to identify and work in proximity of primary, secondary line voltages and other hazards
- Perform work in utility bucket trucks and aerial lifts on utility pole lines in a safe manner
- Ability to work in confined spaces (manholes, vaults, crawl spaces and LCP cabinets).
- Properly use and maintain PPE provided and follow safety procedures
- Ability to potentially travel 25% of the time
- On-call for emergency response restoration and potential weekend work when required to maintain project schedules
- Maintenance Window (12-6am) activity for audits, new customer activations and network plant extensions/retrofits
Experience and other requirements: General computer skills (MS Excel, Word, Provided tracking and documentation) Assess all types of job conditions and hazards prior to performing work
- Possess good communications skills
- Maintain logs, conduct surveys, checklists and write job reports on a real time basis
- Possess a valid driver license with a clean driving record
- Able to read blueprints, design prints, Splicing Matrix, and project SOW’s
- Pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
- Willingness to work inside maintenance window (12-6am), when required
- Pass E-verify and job specific certifications
- General Broadband or Telecommunications knowledge a plus
- Possess 2+ years of field experience with troubleshooting, prep of all types of fiber, all types of enclosures and overall industry knowledge of fiber integration.FICOA offers medical benefits after 90 days. We offer overtime and on call pay when required. Employee can earn 1 week of vacation after 6 months with company. Depending on the experience of the applicant, starting pay of $25.00 /hr.
