The OSP Fielder maintains existing and ongoing projects centered on the telecommunication design of outside plant facilities. The Fielder ensures that all network quality requirements are followed.

The OSP Fielder’s primary task is to identify and rectify OSP engineering problems with innovative solutions or develop the field data necessary to create those solutions. The OSP Fielder will be responsible for collecting field data for the design of construction drawings, including preparing field notes, sketches, and recorded measurements of all existing utilities, structures, roadways, and construction obstacles.

The OSP Fielder is responsible for maintaining safe working habits and conditions per the regulations and policies. They will coordinate with the engineering team and project management staff to keep track of the work activities. And collaborate with the drafting personnel to develop constructive designs or drawings by providing engineering overlay and appropriate engineering and construction notes.

The candidate must have an in-depth understanding of the outside plant construction techniques. They must handle fiber networking, routing, and network management issues. As needed, the OSP Fielder will take care of the aerial and underground construction and engineering requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Locate, sketch, and document detailed information about OSP facilities: cables, poles, ground structures, vaults, peds, utility holes, and equipment.
  • Measure and record attachment heights, span distances, and structure dimensions.
  • Measure distances from existing/proposed OSP facilities.
  • Take measurements, field notes, and produce sketches for ROW.
  • Develop accurate construction estimates.
  • Travel to locations where projects will be executed on an ongoing/regular basis.
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Quality detailed field notes
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Experience with fiber optic and CATV cable systems
  • Experience with permits, easements, and ROW regulations
  • Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) Standards a plus
  • OSP equipment includes a height stick, measuring wheel, and other applicable tools.

Education

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screening successfully.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
