OSP Field Inspector/Installer

General Job Description
This is a skilled position for technical work performed in the field providing supervision, leadership, and expertise in inspecting of the construction of the Yellowstone Fiber fiber network. The individual appointed to this position will be required to perform the following duties: Monitor and inspects the construction of the Yellowstone Fiber fiber network infrastructure to ensure quality and compliance with engineering and construction standards. Monitor and tracks corrections of construction deficiencies. Monitors the contractor production reports. Perform or inspect (QC) residential fiber optic installations. Respond to network outages. Assist with installations of business and residential customers. Assist other technicians, analysts, engineers, and managers. Attend project coordination meetings. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School graduate or GED or higher education
• Minimum of 3 years experience working in telecommunications or construction
• Minimum of 1 years specific to fiber optic, cable, or teleco projects
• Preferred experience specific to fiber optic splicing and testing
• Preferred experience in fiber optic, cable, satellite, or telco business or residential installation

Selection Factors

• Knowledge of fiber to the home (FTTP) construction and design
• Experience reviewing construction plans, design maps, specifications, permits and other plans related to construction projects
• Experience with software tools such as ticketing systems, chat and text systems, email systems, Microsoft Word and Excel or Google docs
• Experience with attending project coordination meetings include scope of work, timelines, and construction issues
• Conducts on-site inspections of construction projects; determines fiber engineering and construction standards compliance
• Experience with contractor production reports
• Experience with and understanding with safety standards and regulations
• Experience with and understanding easements and public right of way
• Experience with change order and documentation processes to accommodate field changes
• Experience with field measurements with use of joint poles
• Experience with aerial make ready engineering requirements and processes for preparation of pole attachment application
• Experience with daily job condition reports and records of material and quantities used
• Experience with home installation services of telephone, cable, fiber optic, or satellite
• Experience providing technical support
• Experience with configuration, installation and maintenance of customer premise equipment including consumer grade wireless routers
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• Ability to multitask in a high stress environment
• Learn and keep current with technological advances
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public, coworkers, and supervisors
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Screening

• Based on the meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge and education

• Valid, lawful driver’s license is required at time of appointment, clean driving record required for company vehicle

Physical/Environment Factors

• Work shift is typical work day, however some overtime required and occasional night or weekend and holiday work may be required
• Position works outdoors in heat and cold temperatures
• Position require lifting and removing type 3 concrete polymer hand hold lids (~50-75 lbs)

Pre-Employment Testing

• Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a background investigation.

Job Type: Full-time

Benefits:

• Pay: $55,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience
• 80 hours PTO (following 45 day probationary period) + paid holidays
