OT Network Engineer (Remote or Onsite)

The Sr. Network Engineer will have the ability to apply their skills and experience towards projects for new and existing Dematic customers. This role involves building and developing customer relationships, analyzing technical requirements of projects, setting strategy, designing cost-effective solutions, and constructing financially viable models to sell “best in class” solutions to our customers. You will have the opportunity to work with various departments of Dematic to develop safe, low-risk, creative, and competitive solutions to meet client’s needs. Where appropriate, they will present network designs to Dematic, and its customers and vendors. Ability to build firewall policies based on application and project requirements will be essential. Extensive knowledge and experience with multilevel DMZs and Zero Trust OT Networks are desired. Ability to implement, secure, administer, monitor, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, 4th generation firewalls, routers, deceptors, switches, and controllers are some of the main responsibilities for this position.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $53,000-166,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
Tasks and Qualifications:
This Is What You Will Do In This Role

  • Serves as a functional and technical expert and team lead for subordinate technical network staff. Oversees and trains technical staff and coordinates team activities. Assists in appraising performance, discipline, and hiring decisions.
  • Designs, installs, maintains, monitors, and documents a highly complex, Zero trust security structure, and multi-level network including local area, wide area, and cloud-based networks to meet varying project/customer specifications.
  • Leads and engages in activities of the highest complexity related to implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, and performance monitoring of the networked environment.
  • Conducts advanced diagnostics and troubleshoots network hardware components, system software, and hardware. Resolves the most complex infrastructure problems.
  • Upgrades network device operating systems software, Firmware, devise memory, disk subsystems, and other components, as required. Maintains system documentation changes and reviews documentation of other technical staff.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements network and firewall policies and standards and ensures adherence to approved security and disaster recovery procedures, as well as meeting application and project requirements.
  • Consults with department users and SMEs on proper systems selection and automation designs to meet business objectives while maintaining full integration with other networks and resources.
  • Gathers and documents customer requirements. Develops network designs. Evaluates architectural, mechanical, and electrical floor plans and specifications relating to network devices for new and existing facilities.
  • Researches and analyzes the technology market and evaluates vendor products in hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment in order to recommends purchases consistent with the organization’s short- and long-term objectives.
  • Coordinates work performed by outside vendors and monitors vendor service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Generate all costing workbooks for opportunities assigned for network services
  • Assist and estimate time frames, quality, and quantity of resources required to successfully implement a very complex project
  • Develop a project plan and proposal document incorporating all project variables, documents and data.
  • Monitor assignment schedule and partner with Sales on missing information for assignment completion
  • Manage multiple priorities and work with key stakeholders to ensure that all assignments are not only accurate but are completed on time, according to target completion dates
  • Conduct periodic status checks with customers and team to assess progress against goals and prepare weekly status reports on all project activities.
  • Travel around 40% to different customer sites in the USA

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a directly related field AND 8+ years of relevant work experience, including two (2) years of team lead, supervisory, or management experience required.
  • Preferred networking-related and Security Certifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VOIP, and SNMP.
  • Prior experience building from scratch, high performance, resilient, enterprise networks.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, 4th generation firewalls, routers, deceptors, switches, controllers.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
  • Has experience with appropriate third-party providers to complement the network needs.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and evaluate its use to satisfy project specifications.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT, and outside the organization.
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Thorough analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.
  • Zero Trust Network security experience.
  • Strong understanding of OT protocols and technologies, including Modbus, Profinet and EtherCAT
  • Experience with OT network security best practices and protocols, such as ISA/IEC 62443 in a material handling environment.
