X is an Alphabet company exploring innovative solutions to complex global problems. PFS is supporting a Free Space Optical Communications (FSOC) project in X team involved in designing, testing, and deploying a high-speed wireless backhaul technology.

Position Overview: The PFS X Network Operations Center Engineer will work as part of an active Operations Team developing, deploying, testing, and operating network solutions for a high-speed wireless production backhaul data network. This work will include monitoring, troubleshooting, and scaling operations of a production Network Operations Center (NOC) while working alongside other engineers, technicians, customers, and 3rd party network partners.

The NOC engineer will perform a variety of work to support Taara’s mission. Much of that work will come in the form of traditional network engineering but some of that work will occasionally go beyond networking to employ other skillsets on an as needed basis.

Primarily, the NOC Engineer will perform technical analysis of system issues and outages as they occur across a multitude of production data networks. The position will identify, research, and troubleshoot issues to resolution, including escalating issues to R&D engineers when necessary.

Secondarily, the NOC engineer is also responsible for researching, developing, and documenting network performance improvement strategies while effectively communicating solutions to business partners. These improvements could come in the form of back-end database utilization schemes, application debugging, scripting, or Linux systems administration changes. The position must maintain current and thorough knowledge of the technologies in use at Taara and its significance to network operations and must be able to prioritize issues in a complex environment with critical uptime requirements.

The Taara Network Engineer position will work tightly with Deployment Team members to evaluate, install, integrate, troubleshoot, and maintain various wireless technologies. This could include directly supporting wireless optical (WOC or FSOC) tech, Radio Frequency technologies, and more.

Beyond these technical roles, the NOC Engineer be asked to travel to international sites to directly support client/customer installations. They will also be required to express discretion and good judgement while cooperatively communicating with multiple stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be an active problem-solver comfortable working in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
