THE ROLE
The School of Engineering at Macquarie University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support a SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre project on the application of cognitive radio network concepts to hybrid satellite/terrestrial communications. The successful candidate will support the research of Honorary Associate Professor Sam Reisenfeld and Dr Ediz Cetin and will collaborate with members of the research project at Macquarie University and other research institutions.

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will contribute to and undertake research and development in the application of cognitive radio concepts to multiple satellite, terrestrial, and hybrid satellite/terrestrial networks sharing a band in the radio spectrum. You will need to have a PhD in Communications or Electronic Engineering with relevant experience and will be expected to conduct research in radio environment maps and communication systems which are resilient to radio frequency interference and spoofing. You will demonstrate a strong track record in research and make a significant contribution to the research and/or scholarship and administrative activities of the School, Faculty and University.

Essential Criteria

A PhD in Communications or Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline

Demonstrated commitment and success in delivering high-quality and innovative research

Experience in digital communications, electronic systems, and software
-
Strong written and oral communication skills

Proven ability to interact effectively with students, staff, industry, and the community
-
Ability to assist supervising postgraduate students
Salary Package: Level A Step 6 (PhD)from $97,621 – $104,622 p.a., plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.
Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed term for 3 years.
