Power Electronics Engineer

Description: Our Telecommunications Client in Ottawa is Looking for a Power Electronics Engineer to join their growing R&D Team.

Our Client is Developing Remote Radio Units as part of their aggressive deployment in the 5G Space. They require a power electronics engineer with telecommunications experience to join their team and lead the development and direction of power electronics for their new built from the ground up radio base stations. The ideal candidate is experience with low power design and implementation, DCDC converter design and hands on lab experience.

Skills:

1.) Power Electronics (5+ years)

2.) Working knowledge of DCDC Converter Design (Forward, Flyback, Buck, Boost, Buck/Boost, Half-Bridge, Full-Bridge)

3.) Hands on experience with relevant lab test equipment (LISN, Loop Analyzer, Electronic loads, DC source, Oscilloscope etc..)

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Own all aspects of the power solution on the Remote Radio Unit including lightning protection, polarity protection, hot-swap circuit, EMC filter, power stage and control loop design.
• Work with Hardware, Mechanical, Thermal design and external power supply partner(s) to realize power solution.
• Point of contact to Power Supplier vendor, Component Engineer, Sourcing Primes, and Contract Manufacturing houses.
• Design of isolated and non-isolated DCDC design.
• Responsible for schematic and layout design. (Guiding of the layout designer on placement and routing of power circuits)
• Mentor less experienced designers, guiding them as needed in their work.
