Principal Industrial Permitting Consultant

The key sectors we serve include manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, energy transition, power, technology, media & telecommunications, oil & gas, mining & metals. All face critical sustainability challenges and our clients in these and many other areas rely on our ability to assist them to operate more sustainably, which has a positive impact on our environment.
ERM is looking for a highly experienced Industrial Permitting Consultant to join our rapidly growing industrial permitting team. Location is flexible for the right candidate. The role is an exciting opportunity to help lead a range of critical projects for our global Clients, predominantly helping solve regulatory challenges, frequently novel in nature and requiring experience and pragmatism in working with environmental regulators. The role is primarily UK focussed with potential to extend to develop similar projects across Europe.
The consultant would be expected to have demonstrable long term and varied experience in working with environmental regulators to seek client favourable outcomes. The ability to propose and support the client’s position underpinned by prior precedent or impact assessment is essential.
The candidate shall be able to demonstrate familiarity of the challenges facing UK and EU industry and have relevant recent experience of application of the UK regulatory legislation at a senior level.
Role expectations

Lead technical delivery of a variety of industrial environmental permitting projects

Provide expert technical leadership to permitting team members and to other teams within ERM

Have a working knowledge of environmental impact assessment disciplines, as relevant to environmental permitting

Provide technical/subject matter insight and review, to ensure that the quality of project deliverables represent ERM standards and are in line with client needs

Develop client proposals and to build client relationship as well as developing their own internal and external network

Ensure client satisfaction through project communication and engagement

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant science or environmental discipline

Experience in either a consulting environment, the regulatory sector or from industry
