Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Manufacturing (Process) Engineer or Sr. Principal Manufacturing (Process) Engineer – working with Composite Structures and Assemblies to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Beavercreek (Dayton) OH supporting our Beavercreek and Kettering facilities.
Our team has the privilege to work on highly engineered structures and is challenged to come up with solutions to difficult problems that impact national security.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Process Flow Maps for the entire manufacturing process
- Work with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure compliance to design and specifications
- Establish Manufacturing Bills of Materials
- Generate work instructions to guide technicians on how to perform the work
- Develop test plans and test reports
- Help train technicians on various manufacturing processes.
- Perform project lead activities helping engineering meet the design requirements
- Coordinate activities with operations and scheduling ensuring timely completion of activities
- Work with Quality Engineering on any non-conformances to the design
- Help perform Root Cause/Corrective Action activities
- Identify cost reduction activities
Our team works collaboratively with other engineering groups to design, develop, build and test a variety of complex composite parts that include aero structures, radomes, antenna and other engineering structures. Our work week follows a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off. Start and finish times can be flexible to accommodate your schedule around our core hours.
Travel is up to 5%, all within the continental US and typically involves travel of 2-3 days per event.
This role be filled at a Manufacturing (Process) Engineer or Principal Process Engineer level depending on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Engineer
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science and 5 Years; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. Note: An additional 4 years of relevant work experience be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs
- Understanding of composite manufacturing (layup, bagging, curing, machining, bonding, coatings)
Senior Principal Engineer
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science and 9 Years; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. Note: An additional 4 years of relevant work experience be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs
- Understanding of composite manufacturing (layup, bagging, curing, machining, bonding, coatings)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- Experience in the aerospace industry
- Active, In-scope DoD Secret clearance
