About the Role:

  • The Principal Network will be responsible for improving Wholesale’s customer experience by leveraging advanced technical and analytics skills towards determining and driving solutions to complex network challenges. A qualified candidate possesses extensive Network Operations knowledge including Engineering Design and understanding of complex telecommunications architectures. Candidate should be well versed in traffic deployment, capacity management, and performance analysis. Must be able to work closely with other groups including Engineering, Business Intelligence, Field Operations, NOC and repair verticals, as well as IT teams. Will act as a subject matter expert in various technologies and be ready to assist with training for co-workers and NOC Personnel.

What You’ll Do:

  • The successful candidate will have proven experience in telecommunications troubleshooting and failure analytics within a carrier grade network.
  • Provide advanced technical support for DWDM Waves, Ethernet, and TDM.
  • Work directly with Network Operations Center Personnel on escalated issues as well as skills improvement through group and “one on one” training.
  • Work directly with customers to solve complex service issues and ensure long term service stability.
  • Assist with maintenance activities by writing procedures and directing work.
  • Meet established service and network objectives and KPI’s
  • Recommend changes to procedures and objectives as network and customer needs develop
  • Consult on Automation development to create an intelligent network and proactive ticket creation.
  • Define new technologies, processes, and methodologies to improve customer experience
  • Work with equipment vendors to resolve issues with customer services and stay cognizant of changes in equipment.
  • Analyze fault trends and develop solutions to mitigate.
  • Evaluate and prepare for impacts of new products and service offerings
  • Work with Engineering to develop and maintain deployment standards for customer services.
  • Establish and maintain documentation of internal processes and procedures
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with peers in other organizations
  • Assist with the deployment of next generation telecommunications services

Additional responsibilities:

  • Broad understanding of transport network infrastructure, including DWDM, Ethernet Transport, and TDM
  • In-depth knowledge of accepted engineering, operating and field service/central office practices.
  • Analyze and communicate risks and opportunities.
  • Assures proper tracking and documentation of troubleshooting and issue resolution. Trouble ticketing, post-mortem of outages, Research into long term customer service events.
  • Consistent exercising of independent judgement and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • College degree and 5-7 years of experience or 10+ years equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience required.
  • Equipment knowledge most of the following:

    • Infinera DTN/DTN-X/Flex
    • Infinera Coriant 7100, G30
    • Ciena WaveServer
    • Ciena 6500
    • Cisco 15454
  • 5-7 years Network Operations Experience.
