Private Utility Locator

Job Title: Utility Locate Technician – Location: Seattle, Everett, Renton and Bellevue. Western WA.

C-N-I Locates Ltd. is looking for an individuals with experience in Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) / Concrete Scanning and Underground Utility Locating to join our growing team.

The starting pay for this position is $30.00 – $40.00 per hour, depending on industry related experience and up to $45 an hour for journeyman wages. These are daytime, full-time positions. Instructor led additional training will be provided.

The position requires work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Must be self-motivated and willing to work independently, can read maps, blueprints and ability to use a computer. Efficiently route and determine the address and location of each locate in urban and rural areas. Our technicians work from a company vehicle utilizing our state of the art electronic equipment. They are responsible for the correct, safe and efficient designation of underground utilities and reinforcing elements, i.e. telecommunications, electric, power, cable TV, gas, water and sewer systems, along with post tension cables & rebar in and around construction zones, residential, commercial and industrial areas. They are also required to collect and process documentation and billing information.

Key Responsibilities

Utility Designation

• Accurately designate underground utilities according to ASCE 38-02 standards.
• Complete detailed field Investigation.
• Consult on schedule planning for field operations.
• Day to day problem solving.
• Review of record information prior to and during field investigation.
• Proficient knowledge of geophysical locating technology.
• Subsurface utility designating field (metal detection, electromagnetics [EM], duct rodding, GPR etc.)
• Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) along with Structural & Concrete Mapping
• Acoustic Pipe Locator
• CCTV Sewer Camera
• GPS/GNSS surveying techniques

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• MUST be able to pass a background check.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Basic computer skills: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
• Must have good communication skills (verbal and written), attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to read and understand maps, records, and prints.

Physical

• Must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must have the ability to move safely over uneven terrain.

Work Environment

• Ability to work in all types of terrain and hazards (grass, gravel, ditches, etc.), all types of environments (construction sites, highways, industrial, private property, confined spaces, etc.), and all types of weather conditions.
• Must be available to work overtime and some weekends & travel as needed.
