As a large, complex organization with multiple school locations and administrative needs, the Peel District School Board (PDSB) relies on reliable, secure Financial Information System software to make sound data-informed decisions, and you can play a key role in this regard by putting to work your knowledge of emerging technologies, trends and directions in this field.
Reporting to the Team Leader, FIS Development, you’ll be responsible for the development and support of Cayenta Financials, the Board’s Financial Information System (FIS) software – from enhancing the existing application, to troubleshooting, fixing bugs, and analyzing and proposing recommended solutions, to designing, developing and deploying custom web applications that integrate with the system.
As a Programmer Analyst – FIS, you’ll be tasked with providing estimates for assigned work, analyzing and estimating feasibility, time, and compatibility with other programs, designing, developing and deploying reports, and ensuring that expected application performance levels are achieved. Underlying all your work will be a commitment to promoting adherence to departmental standards for all phases of design and development.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
You have the solid foundation this role demands, namely, a post-secondary education in Computer Science or an applicable IT-related field, and 3 to 5 years’ experience with Oracle DBMS, SQL, PL/SQL, Internet Information Services, JavaScript, HTML, J2EE, Servlets/Applets, ASP, and Acrobat Writer. The following skills and experience will also drive your success as a Programmer Analyst – FIS:
- Demonstrated initiative and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with Board personnel.
- Experience programming within a Financial Information System.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and anti-oppression, and to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment.
Experience with the following is an asset:
- FIS software.
- PL/SQL Developer, Linux, TOAD, XML/XHTML.
- Reporting software (Actuate, Cognos, Crystal).
- Tomcat Services.
- Database design.
Salary range: $67,651 – $80,325 per annum
