Newhook Trenching Ltd (NTL) is a leader in underground utility construction services in Southern Alberta. Established in 2002, our company offers turnkey underground telecom and power contracting services to our clients. We are currently seeking a detailed-oriented Project Coordinator to assist multiple Project Managers as well as our Estimating department.
Job Summary:
The Project Coordinator assists Project Manager(s) with project administration activities throughout the preparation and execution of the project.
The successful candidate will have the ability to efficiently and effectively manage a consistent, and at times heavy workload while thriving in a self-directed work environment. The candidate will have administrative skills and competencies and the ability to engage team members and clients by phone and via email in a professional and personable manner.
We are seeking a highly motivated and capable team member for the Project Coordinator position. Preference will be given to candidates who have Project Coordinator experience or a strong understanding of the construction industry.
Primary duties include:
- Assisting Project Manager(s) with the successful full cycle of assigned projects from initiation to completion
- Ensuring all project documentation is accurate and up to date
- Assisting Project Manager(s) with customer communication and interactions
- Assisting multiple Project Managers on several projects simultaneously
- Preparing and maintaining job files
- Project cost and milestone tracking
- Reviewing material lists and ordering materials
- Pulling and closing out various work permits
- Arranging and tracking utility locates
- Acquiring and reviewing supplier quotes
Job Requirements:
- Strong computer skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Google Earth, and Adobe Acrobat and applicable project management software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet commitments and deadlines.
- Ability to adapt and respond to changing needs and effectively troubleshoot and resolve problems/issues as they arise.
- Ability to effectively support and assist Project Managers on multiple construction projects and assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various individuals/stakeholders (written and verbal).
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport and strong relationships, commitment to providing a high level of customer service.
- Ability to efficiently execute a consistent workload, in a self-directed work environment, demonstrating attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated commitment and adherence to safety practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, tenacious by nature and a strong team player.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Superior keyboarding and data entry skills.
- Extremely organized and focussed
- Propensity for multi-tasking
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Considered an asset:
- Experience as a Project Coordinator or related position in the construction industry
- 2+ years of related experience working in project management
- Knowledge or experience in the underground utility industry
- Ability to read and understand field drawings and plans is beneficial
- General understanding of utility construction and terminology is considered an asset
