The EPA Fiber Deployment Coordinator:

  • Coordinates with engineers and developers in design of the fiber to the home (FTTH) outside plant by performing site surveys of proposed designs and proposed equipment locations
  • Coordinates changes between design engineers and installers for change request
  • Performs construction inspections for quality control and safety
  • Reports to the Construction Manager.
  • No direct reports to this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The EPA Fiber Deployment Coordinator is accountable for the following items:

  • Coordinating construction of aerial and underground plant to support the FTTH upgrade for all MaxxSouth Broadband properties
  • Acting as liaison between outside contractors, engineering and technical department
  • Assigning work to contractors, approving contractor invoices, and ensuring accurate and quality work from contractors
  • Reading system prints and place cable according to prints
  • Ensuring the structural integrity of the cable system plant
  • Maintaining the relationship with utility providers, and pole attachment records
  • Acting as liaison between MaxxSouth and city or state public works
  • Coordinating with Department of Transportation (DOT) and local public
  • Providing weekly activity reports in electronic format (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Performing traffic control and/or safety flagging as necessary
  • Participating in ongoing Customer Service and technical training as required
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED – required
  • Minimum two (2) years prior cable technical experience – required
  • Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices – required
  • Formal electronics training, NCTI, SCTE Certification or equivalent – preferred
  • Basic computer skills including internet (email, web browsers), Windows and MS Office.
  • Self-starter with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift minimum of 75 lbs. – required

  • Overtime and On-call rotation may be required
  • Ability to work non-standard hours (evenings, weekends, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company standards at all times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Walking, kneeling, standing, stooping, sitting, driving, hearing, talking, vision (close, distant, color, depth perception, adjust focus), and use of hands and fingers. Light lifting of 75 lbs. is occasionally needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The EPA Fiber Deployment Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt position. The regular workweek is typically 40 hours per week, with additional hours as needed including weekends, evenings and/or holidays.
  • The EPA Fiber Deployment Coordinator is required to drive on the job as needed and is subject to regular MVR checks. He/she must maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record the meets Company standards for an insurable driver at all times. Any time these conditions are not met, he/she must not drive on the job and must immediately report it to his/her supervisor.
