Summary

Ensures that CRH sources clearly specified products and services in the relevant category at the best possible TCO. The Category Manager ensures that CRH fulfils its contractual obligations and other commitments towards its suppliers under lead of the Global Category Manager. Participates in all relevant commercial discussions with suppliers related to specific products (within own area). Owns and drives regular business review meetings with suppliers. Drives multiple source qualifications and provides price provisioning on product level during budgeting / business case phase.

Main Responsibilities

• Translates category and supplier strategies into executable sourcing plans based on actual portfolio demands Ensures cost, availability, innovation, and quality within the sourcing plan creation and execution
• Executes regional supplier selection along strategy, requirements, supplier base development, and identification of new suppliers Is responsible for efficient RFx process from selection through onboarding according to the agreed strategies
• Leads price negotiations, contract, and life cycle management with suppliers
• Ensures compliance with procurement process, SOX and other statutory requirements within own category Ensures compliance to supplier portfolio within own category/region and in alignment with Project Management
• Liaises with Global Category Manager for the anticipation and handling of changes based on supply market dynamics Manages supplier performance
• Is accountable for agreed KPIs (internal and external) and their reporting
• A high degree of travel will be required in order to perform the role effectively

Key Tasks and Responsibilities (including key stakeholders)

• Manages assigned category in region by leading cross-functional and cross-regional team
• Accountability for results at regional level
• Act as interface with countries (communications to countries and from the countries will be done through the Regional Category Manager)
• Responsible for implementing category strategy on OpCo/Business level
• Tailor category strategy to needs of Division, define Division priorities, and align priorities with countries
• Collection of needs from OpCo’s including data for benchmarking
• Executes multi local initiatives (e.g., tenders)
• Lead Country Category Manager with country or regional processes
• Develop and manage relationship with key suppliers in the category
• Drive the realization of savings, efficiency, quality, and process improvements

Key Characteristics

• Well-rounded and experienced Procurement professional with sound business acumen, data and people driven leader and decision maker.
• Ability to lead and drive the execution of the regional category management agenda.
• A dedicated and engaged partner who strongly engages with both the business and the global procurement organization to enhance collaboration and obtaining the regional procurement objectives.

Education and Experience

• Educated to degree level – Business or Technical, Master will be an advantage
• 8 or more years of Procurement experience in international setting, 3 or more years of People Management experience
• Experience in managing a regional category in a large complex multi country organization
• Fluent written and verbal English is a must, other languages are considered a plus.
• Willing to move internationally or cooperate in international projects
