The Satellite Management Services Division provides satellite operations and satellite communications services using a network of SSC stations and partner stations worldwide as well as consultancy services.
Satellite Ground System Network Operator
Position reports to Ground Network Operations Manager
Position Summary
SSC Space is in search of Satellite Ground Systems Network Operators. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring timely, reliable spacecraft support and delivery of telemetry and data to our customers, to include configuring for mission execution and responding to status changes as well as responding to system and network alarms in a 24-hour staffed environment. Will operate and manage the operational functions required to support successful operation of the ground network. Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule (including weekends and holidays), be reliable and punctual, work well under pressure and have excellent communication skills. This position will work out of SSC’s corporate headquarters located in Horsham PA, and is a permanent full-time, entry-level position.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in the operations of a satellite ground station or satellite control facility is a plus
- Basic knowledge of data communications protocols and experience in troubleshooting and maintaining LAN/WAN and telecommunication links desired
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail
- Customer Service experience is a plus
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, prioritizing, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems, tools and applications
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and pass a full security background check
Additional Information: Staff in these roles are paid hourly and work 12 hours shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Monthly Schedule:
Employees work 36 hours one week (3 days) followed by 48 hours the next week (4 days) .
Monthly Shift Rotation:
There are two shifts.
Shift 1 – 9:00 am 9:00 pm and:
Shift 2- 9:00 pm to 9:00 am.
Employees rotate shifts on a monthly basis.
For example, January = Shift 1; February Shift 2; March = Shift 1, April Shift 2.
