The Role:
We are currently looking for a skilled, client-focused technical project manager / scrum master to join our Toronto team to provide our customers with technical project planning, management and oversight for key initiatives in software delivery projects.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
The technical project manager scrum master is responsible for collaborating with business and technology partners to manage strategic initiatives and applications. This role requires hands-on planning and project management, the ability to track deliverables, manage the cadence of software development teams, remove impediments and blocking items, identify opportunities for improvement and communicate effectively across functional groups.
More specifically, you will:
- Assume responsibility of all product related roadmap, backlog features and management of cross-functional teams required to deliver product to market-launch stage;
- Work closely with key client & vendor stakeholders to define the client’s strategy and work streams required to achieve it;
- Form strong team relationships by leading, coaching, motivating team members, identifying and resolving conflicts and establishing a trusted environment for all team members;
- Own all identified blockers, including seeing issues through to resolution;
- Mange the cadence of the software team, including planning, stand-ups, demos and retrospectives, create team agreements and ensure that they are being respected;
- Analyze and prioritize work streams and obtain the support required to implement it;
- Proactively collaborate with product management and software engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions;
- Seek to improve team performance through continuous process improvement initiatives and tracking key metrics;
- Select, evaluate, and prioritize key process improvement initiatives, jointly with stakeholders to drive outcomes that align with the clients’ goals;
- Research possible solutions to existing problems, identify or conceptualize process/system improvements, evaluate the business cases, validate results with process owners;
- Develop actionable plans and leads the implementation of process improvement opportunities that efficiencies and/or reduce delivery/operating costs;
- Foster a partnership approach to working with project teams and stakeholders, ensuring respect and open communication;
- Proactively develop and manage strong and collaborative relationships with internal team members and all client stakeholders.
Must Have Skills/Experience
- Real-world experience as a Product Owner, managing a product backlog and mapping out dependencies and priorities that will inform the necessary sequence of development;
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects in a fast-paced and changing technical environment with a history of successful outcomes;
- Ability to be flexible and adept in dealing with and resolving ambiguity;
- Experience delivering software projects, with a full understanding of the software development life cycle as well as expertise in automation, quality assurance, deployment processes and what it means to operationalize a product;
- Highly developed product & project management skills;
- Superior analytical and critical thinking skills;
- Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills, can easily convey the goals and vision of the product and ensure they align with business objectives;
- Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams and seamlessly interact with all involved parties from technical team, business team and management.
Nice to Have Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Six Sigma and/or PMP certification
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
