Job Description:

The I&R (Installation & Repair) Technician III is responsible for the installation and repair of regulated and non-regulated residential and business services. This will include basic and multi-line telecommunications equipment, DSL routers/modems, wireless broadband CPE, video equipment; inside wire/cables, and service drops as required. The position is also responsible for coordinating work assignments for the I&R Technician I and II positions. The I&R Technician III reports to the I&R Supervisor. This is a non-exempt hourly position located out of Kerman, CA.

Job Duties:

• Meeting customer commitment dates and times for installation and repair work orders.
• Install and repair basic CPE equipment, inside telephone wiring and network wiring. Install and repair wireless broadband.
• Locate underground cable associated with USA tickets.
• Assist other outside plant technicians, workgroups, and employees as required.
• Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance
• Maintain a clean and properly equipped vehicle.
• Accurate daily time reporting and material usage reports.
• Repair and maintain telecommunications equipment as required (DLC).
• Install and maintain central office mainframe and cross-connect terminal wiring.
• Utilize appropriate test equipment to identify faults and take corrective action.
• Interface with customers and CSR’s to resolve customer questions and concerns. Pre-field work orders or other work assignments as required.
• All other duties and tasks as assigned by the Engineering and I&R Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• Valid California driver’s license.
• High School diploma or equivalent; a college degree is desirable.
• Must comply with all company policies and safety procedures.
• Basic computer keyboard and software skills (Excel, Word and other applications).
• Equipment certification is desirable (i.e.: Nortel, Mite! KTS or PBX).
• Telecommunications wiring color code competency.
• Requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in I&R or related telecommunications field.
• General knowledge of Outside Plant construction desired.
• Actively participate in a team environment and practice the “Corporate and Spirit of 46 values”.
• Must be available to work overtime and assume on-call duties as required.

• Ability to work in temperature extremes ranging from +20o to +105o
