Under general direction, the Senior Absence Management /Employee Relations Analyst will provide day to day support to employees and managers on a variety of employee relations and absence management issues. The Senior AM/ER Analyst will provide technical guidance regarding the interpretation of policies and procedures related to all leave of absences issues, including performance management, position replacement, terminations, reporting, investigations and a variety of other AM/ER issues. A Senior Analyst will be expected to manage a high volume case load and document information in the case management system.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage a case load and document information in the case management system
- Provides guidance to the ER team on issues pertaining to attendance, backfill and termination requests for cases related to leave of absences
- Provides technical advice to HCPs, employees and managers. Partners with employee relations, absence management, legal department and risk management to ensure consistent application of policies and practices
- Manages the interactive accommodations process between employees and managers, and coordinates job task analysis with supervisors on a case by case basis
- Coordinates with managers and departments to implement job modification/accommodations; evaluates the need for assistive equipment or modifications to the work environment
- Consults with disability vendors, managers and HCPs on leave of absence, medical accommodations for equipment requests. Responsible for ensuring all relevant information is gathered from case management, disability vendor online tools, physician documentation and documented for the interactive accommodations process, or LOA legal panel, prior to recommending appropriate action
- Develops leave of absence and accommodations audit procedures and ensures compliance ongoing
- Supports the case management team in all leave of absence and accommodations activities
- Follows appropriate escalation guidelines related to leave, disability and medical accommodations cases. Ensures appropriate corporate personnel are notified of issues
- Handles “One Breath” situations related to leave of absences and accommodations according to protocol

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in leave of absence and/or disability claims management and employee relations
- Experience in a high case volume environment
- Knowledge of state and federal employment law
- Knowledge in ADA, ADAAA, FMLA, STD, LTD, W/C, FLSA, EEO
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specific knowledge in ADA
- Peoplesoft experience
- Solid analytical and decision making skills
- Extremely detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated solid organizational skills and ability to work in a large, fast paced environment
- Ability to work independent while working within guidelines and established protocols
- Ability to meet deadlines and commitments
- Excellent communication skills

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
