Job Title – Financial Controller – Corporate & Public Sector
BT are recruiting for a Financial Controller – Corporate & Public Sector to join our Enterprise CFU (Customer Facing Unit) on a permanent basis, the successful candidate will be based in our Belfast office offering flexible hybrid working.
Enterprise is one of the four market-facing units in BT. We keep around 1.2 million UK and Republic of Ireland businesses and public sector organisations connected and serve over half the FTSE 350. We also provide network solutions to more than 1,400 UK communications providers. The role holder will be responsible for overseeing the month end process for CPS ensuring accurate and timely inputs are received from the wider team, providing guidance, ensuring integrity at all times, and communicating appropriate messaging to stakeholders.
Responsibility of leading a team of 18 people (UK and India), ensuring accuracy and timeliness, prioritising activities to meet business objectives/requirements, and developing the team.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure management reporting is accurate, insightful and drives appropriate behaviour; influencing day to day business operations by focused financial analysis (P&L and balance sheet)
- Work proactively with the business to shape the business strategy, creating, leading and implementing the finance agenda to support delivery of business objectives
- Manage the monthly outlook process, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. Demonstrate full understanding of Risks & Opportunities which underpin the submission, including key performance metrics and their relationship with the financial performance of the business.
- Lead on the Medium-Term Plan (MTP) for CPS finance, ensuring engagement with all relevant stakeholders, quality output is produced, and delivery within the required timelines
- Ensure appropriate financial governance is implemented, including effective processes and controls are designed and delivered
- Oversee the CPS audit ensuring audit queries are being addressed on a timely basis and providing ongoing updates
- Proactively partner with SMT, challenging and supporting the business on the right commercial outcomes. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the business, acting like a trusted partner
- Effective management of team, leading and setting direction, providing technical advice and coaching
- Qualified Accountant
- Significant Senior Stakeholder experience and working within highly matrixed environments. Experience of working with Commercial teams to deliver the unit financials
- Ability to interpret financials into meaningful insight, to inform decision making.
- Be willing to voice an opinion and look at the “art of the possible” Must be able to create a clear vision, delivering against key metrics
- Demonstrates an extremely high level of analytical capability
- A strong track record of delivering robust financial governance
- Experience of managing a team
