Job Description

Under the general guidance of the Director of Construction, the Senior Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of Civil, and Aerial work, as well as ensuring projects are completed on time and are functioning smoothly.

In addition, the incumbent is responsible for directing local construction management to implement project plans and schedules, while ensuring safety and quality control.

Responsibilities

Ensures that the requirements of the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) to promote overall compliance of AFL HS&E standards, applicable OH&S Acts, regulations and codes with all employees and subcontractors on the project are implemented by local construction management

Ensures all projects are well executed in accordance with corporate goals and contractual requirements

Ensures projects’ materials are supplied and tasks are completed in compliance with the Project Quality Program

Ensures that local construction management builds projects according to approved plans and specifications

Develops, maintains and drives the projects’ schedule in conjunction with the director and VP of Construction

Receives a daily report from local construction management which accurately tracks site progress, events, inspections and other relevant information

Requires travel to various site-based projects

Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications

5+ years of construction experience as a Senior Construction Manager or similar direct supervisory role with experience in Outside Plant construction or other telecommunications construction projects considered an asset

Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes

Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple stakeholders, understand and interpret stakeholder needs and identify solutions

Expert knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook

Ability to travel to various site-based projects if required

Minimum Education

Preferred Degree or Type

Completion of post-secondary education or Equivalent work experience
