The Sr. Director of Navigation and Population Health product will be responsible for managing and optimizing both OHS and OBH solutions: Optum Health Care Advisor, NurseLine, 2 nd opinions, Domestic and International EAP, EAP+, Emotional Health Line, and Care Connect among other potential products and services.
This is an opportunity for a seasoned leader to establish important connections and synergies across this portfolio – combining medical and behavioral in a new, truly integrated way that best serves our members with whole person care. In addition to this portfolio the leader will be responsible for co-leading the UHG Enterprise Navigation effort focused on creating industry leading advocacy assets that will serve as an enterprise utility to help differentiate UHC E&I as well as products and services across Optum. In this role, the candidate will be accountable for managing the existing businesses, optimizing the existing product portfolio, integrating delivery of the products across medical and behavioral, as well as guiding new development efforts, and assisting in the commercializing the new enterprise navigation product offering.
This position will be required to work with business, operations, technology, finance, sales/growth, and other leaders across the enterprise to optimize and drive more value and growth related to the in scope products and services. The leader and her/his team will be responsible for interfacing with the market to create awareness and thought leadership, work with channel leads to drive growth, and internal functions to ensure optimal delivery and execution of all products, services, and capabilities. The candidate will need to understand the dynamics of the UHG enterprise and of the external marketplace (including customers, competitors, providers, partners, government sector, consumers, etc) to create a solid vision, business plan, and priorities, as well as generate the support of senior leaders to secure investments and capital to enable the plan. In addition the position will execute the strategic priorities which will require a broad skillset including a solid leadership presence and bias to action, strategic relationship management, financial management and deployment of capital, the ability to navigate the Enterprise, work across broad functional teams, and communicate and partner across the executive team to deliver on the vision.
The candidate must have demonstrated business success and a proven track record of leadership, product transformation, product optimization and commercialization, new business, product and capability development leading to the creation of growth generating opportunities and sustainable businesses. This position reports directly to the VP, OHS & OBH product and is a key senior leadership role on the team.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Managing current in market products including: Optum Health Care Advisor, NurseLine, 2nd opinions, Domestic and International EAP, EAP+, Emotional Health Line, and Care Connect among other potential products and services
- Representing Optum as part of the co-leadership of our enterprise navigation effort, working closely with UHC partners and senior business leaders across UHG
- Optimizing the entire product suite to align to the vision of the future (includes internal engineering work, commercializing the changes, and managing the business)
- Develop and direct a product vision and roadmap for multiple strategic products, including introduction of new products, new functionality, and services that materially expand market reach, delivering seamless navigation and advocacy experiences that delight our clients and members
- Identify and lead migration efforts from current advocacy and navigation to future state solutions – including detailed review of clients’ current state needs and solutions, comparison to new solutions to ensure parity, documentation of detailed migration plans and establishing roadmaps for migration schedules
- Able to navigate through technical requirements while simultaneously distilling and communicating complex subject matter to all stakeholders
- Collaborate with key internal customers across the organization to develop requirements, prioritize features, and translate to the roadmap while seeking to understand the voice of the customer
- Establishing a transformational new business vision, strategy, business case, priorities, plan, and executing the plan
- Working with senior executives at Optum, UHC, and UHG to ensure alignment, support, and delivery of the vision and work plan
- Collaborate with OHS and OBH leadership teams to ensure alignment and execution across products (the navigation and low severity product leader will be an enabler of many of the other products in the OHS and OBH suites and will require close working relationships)
- Spending time in the market understanding the landscape (customers, competitors, providers, partners, government sector, consumers, etc.) as well as time internal to UHG executing, developing, and implementing. Including ensuring performance and sustainability of whatever is developed/built
- Ensure that business, products, capabilities meet established short and long-range goals
- Cultivate relationships with key external opinion leaders and strategic partners to support business objectives
- Significantly contribute to innovation, continuous improvement, and other organizational change.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS)
- 7+ years of experience in a product development role successfully launching new market-leading solutions
- 5+ years of experience in any combination of: behavioral, advocacy, navigation, clinical solutions
- 5+ years of experience working in large-scale transformational efforts/areas
- 5+ years managing and developing a team of product managers and product analysts
- Solid experience in the employer and payer markets, government a plus
- Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to transform businesses through business, product, and capability development (from initial vision all the way through execution and the establishment of successful and sustainable new businesses)
- Demonstrated ability to create clarity and focus in ambiguity
- A proven track record of building, deploying, delivering, and successfully navigating within a large, complex organization
- Demonstrated track record of building, mentoring, and leading a product management team to deliver consistent and predictable execution
- Demonstrated solid people management and influencing skills with proven ability and enthusiasm to lead, motivate, inspire, develop, and encourage people, from C-level suite to individual contributors in multiple functional areas
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only : The Salary range for Colorado, Connecticut and Nevada residents is $134,200 to $257,700.
