Senior Engineer of Network Operations

OVERVIEW:

Senior Engineer of Operations is responsbile for provisioning and operating 5G private networks in lab and field to facilitate various validations/optimizations of CBRS based network/device/applicaiton functions and features.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare for and set-up test platform/system (including RAN/Core/Transport nodes, devices, and application servers) based on test cases and requirements
• Manage HW/SW updates of network components and test gears/instruments in Lab
• Plan and drive to automate common or repetitive test procedures/process
• Build and manage software repository for network/device functions validations, optimizations, and deployments
• Build, standardize, and mange environments (Interface, APIs, demo facilities) for few key use cases/applications of 5G private networks
• Handle all necessary SW/HW tools required for network/device/application tests which may include spectrum analyzer, Viavi TM500, RF scanners, log collection tools (QXDM/ QCAT, XCAL/ XCAP or TEMS/ Actix)
• Manage the needs to enable continuous on boarding of new vendors of network nodes, devices, and applications
• Manage and maintain the 99.999% availability of the all the nodes in the lab
• Provide visibility to daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly report of node availability and reliability
• Manage the allocation of lab resources and optimize usage to drive operational efficiencies
• Foresee lab operational constraints and proactively resolve capacity and engineering limitations
• Plan and formulate new technology readiness testing for functional and non-functional use cases
• Support technical discussions with customers to define use cases, network characteristics, services, traffic patterns, features dimensioning and capacity analysis based on end-user behavior and applications, transport, critical performance metrics, etc.
• Make training documents and provide necessary trainings on lab tests, network/device/tool operations, and behavior in Lab environments

• Knowledge in 4G/5G air interface, Core, devices, network architecture, RF planning, Small Cell, Open RAN/Edge computing, RAN transport network (Fronthaul/backhaul, IP/Ethernet), and synchronization network.
• Ability to manage and support telecommunication lab operation as well as asset tracking

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated experience working in an operator setting on technology strategy evolution, design, engineering, and planning function.
• Experience with wireless technologies including LTE/5G NR
• Hands on experience with RAN network optimization, coverage solutions, CA, DSS, MIMO, ability to analyze logs and identify key performance issues.
• Hands on experience with 4G/5G Core, transport network, GPS-based synchronizations, CBRS small cell, UE/EUDs.
• 5+ yrs. of cellular/wireless RAN/Core and transport technology design, engineering, solutioning and product management experience or equivalent is desired.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
