About the role
As we enter one of the most exciting times in our history, we are seeking an experienced IP Engineer to be a Subject Matter Expert in the Virgin Media O2 Core IP, Optical & Edge logical configuration team. In this role you will be responsible for the successful deployment of logical IP network configurations to the Virgin Media O2 Core infrastructure, primarily on First of Type (FOT), Bespoke, low volume high complex projects.
Some key accountabilities include:

Successfully deploy logical IP network configurations and software updates that meet planning and design requirements for network capacity build, security, lifecycle refresh, maintenance and feature code upgrades, new service or infrastructure technologies and improvement plans.

Ensure IP network infrastructure deployment meets engineering and design standards, minimises the customer impact and adheres to configuration and change management processes and controls

The ability to work outside normal working hours to comply with change management high, medium time restrictions.

The must haves
In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

Considerable experience in Data Networking in a telecommunications carrier, ISP or large scale enterprise network environment

Degree, HNC or equivalent in computing, telecommunications or related experience

Computer Literate
-
Knowledge of data networking protocols, technologies and vendors
The other stuff we’re looking for
We’d also love you to bring;

Cisco Vendor accreditation to CCIE or CCNP standard or equivalent

Juniper Vendor accreditation to JNCIS-SP / JNCIP-SP / JNCIE-SP standard or equivalent.

F5 Vendor accreditation to F5-CA (basic level), and F5-CTS (intermediate level)
-
Alcatel Vendor accreditation to NRS2
-
Use of an Agile Methodology
-
Use of Jira
