Location: Location: This position can be based out of any of our offices in Nova Scotia or Ontario. Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, this position is temporarily remote but does require on-site attendance periodically when required.
Job Summary:
The Senior Network & System Administrator is responsible for planning, deploying, managing, and monitoring VON’s infrastructure and services; network firewalls and security devices; server clusters and virtual machines; Active Directory, and Exchange. In addition, they will be responsible for upholding security best practices, software installation, troubleshooting, upgrades, and downgrades. Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, Avaya, and Nortel IP offices is an asset
Key Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively with the Information Technology Team to support VON’s infrastructure and enhance performance, scalability, and reliability
Support VON’s network and cybersecurity stance by implementing and managing firewalls, switches, wireless devices, and telecom systems
Manages Server Clusters and virtual machines in a high availability environment
Supports Microsoft Exchange Server, Active Directory, and Windows 2012/2016/2019
Part of the final step in the escalation framework within the IT support team, possessing the most technical knowledge regarding all aspects of the hardware, network, and system infrastructure
Performs research with vendors and external technical resources for analysis and resolution of complex technical support problems
Provides routine reporting and recommendations to management for performance of hardware systems, capacity constraints, system growth requirements, and progress on project implementations
Performs advanced system administration activities including, backups, application of security policies, enterprise software upgrades, and major infrastructure changes
Education, Designations, and Experience:
Post-secondary degrees in computer science or systems and network administration
Minimum of 7 years direct experience in a complex network system environment supporting more than 5000 end-users
MCP and CCNA Certifications
Experience with the administration of virtualized environments, including V-Sphere VMware ESXi, MS Hyper-V, Citrix or Cisco UCS.
Experience working with Cybersecurity (e.g. firewalls and intrusion detection systems).
Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, Avaya, and Nortel IP offices
Advanced knowledge and experience with SAN, NAS storage including iSCSI and Fiber SAN
Advanced knowledge and experience with networking protocols, security administration, and VPN client/host firewall configurations.
Experience with power shell scripting to optimize the delivery of client system updates and security enhancements
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration, patch management, and optimization.
Experience with hardware infrastructure design and implementation methodologies as well as with MDM platform administration (Citrix UEM, AirWatch, or other industry-leading systems) and mobile technologies (Android, iOS)
A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required.
