The Information Systems and Services (ISS) Department is seeking well-qualified candidates for a “Senior Network Analyst” and join the Telecom Network team. This position provides highly responsible technical support and guidance for trunked radio, voice, and data network communications for all County departments. Performs complex testing and analysis of all elements of the Enterprise network, recommends and implements solutions for issues concerning all network communications, antenna systems, and microwave equipment.

Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the Enterprise IT Supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and achievement of desired results.

Representative Duties

  • Assembles, programs, configures, installs, tests and evaluates performance of new network electronics and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Systems.
  • Analyzes network data and Internet Protocol (IP) voice issues and takes appropriate corrective actions.
  • Programs and operates radio system operating software and microwave systems.
  • Modifies existing network equipment for added functions through upgrades and/or reprogramming.
  • Provides guidance to all County departments, Elected Officials and other municipalities on network procedure, purchasing and project compliance.
  • Acts as a consultant to address technical issues related to network, design, installation, and planning.
  • Administers IP address selection and assignments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other closely related field and three years of experience in the installation, programming and problem diagnosis of local area network (LAN), metropolitan area network (MAN), wide area network (WAN) of all types and configurations; or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.

Preferences

Knowledge of firewalls, routers, switches, virtual private network (VPN) hardware, radio dispatch consoles, and gateways.

  • Experience with government related voice and data networks.
  • Experience with Wireless hardware, Access points and Wireless controllers (Wi-Fi).
  • Experience with SolarWinds Network Management software.
  • Experience with Domain Name System (DNS) Management.
  • Experience with Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
  • Experience with Juniper and Cisco switches and routers.
