BAE Systems is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to provide innovative, customer-focused, and cost-effective network communication systems support of Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) services for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Europe District (NAU) mission requirements. The USACE NAU, headquartered in Wiesbaden, Germany, provides vital engineering, construction, and environmental solutions in support of U.S. European Command (EUCOM) and U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) areas of responsibility.

Responsible to design, plan and implement network communication systems using techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Significant tasks include:

• Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
• Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection
• Conduct testing of network design
• Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing

• Installs, configures, and supports local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Agency Internet Network (AIN), Intranet and Internet and other data communications systems or a segment of a network system
• Maintains network hardware and software
• Monitors network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability
• Supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures
• Provide leadership/mentorship to junior & mid-level network engineers.
• Oversees network control center
• Provides support to projects that involve networks
• Performs a full range of complex network designs encompassing multiple technologies within a single network
• Evaluates new network technologies and makes recommendations to project managers regarding the integration of these technologies into the existing network
• Plans new configurations for integration into the network
• Uses knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being added on the network and the specifications for network interfaces to insure effective integration and optimal network performance
• Ensures that adequate and appropriate planning is provided for hardware and communications facilities to develop and implement methodologies for analysis, installation and support of voice communications systems
• Provides support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs and orders.
• The overarching INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements for the Agency network add to the complexity for this position

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• MA/MS with 10+ years or BA/BS with 12+ years working experience, or equivalent experience
  • Candidates with Armed Forces training/certification and network experience are highly encouraged to apply.
• 8 – 10 years of experience supporting Cisco networks in a medium size IP network that encompasses routing, switching and VoIP communications. Experience must also include:
  • Ability to support, troubleshoot and maintain high availability DOD networks to include device patching and upgrades
  • Extensive experience of Cisco products
• 8570.01M/ IAT Level II (i.e. Security+)
• Certified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise Core with Implementing Cisco Enterprise Advanced Routing and Services (ENARSI) Elective or CCNP Security

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• ITIL Foundations version 3 or higher
