This full-time position as a Senior Optical Engineer is an opportunity to work in a leading high technology telecommunications company, with a multidisciplinary team that develops a broad range of optical telecommunication products, including next-generation WSS and OCM modules, Amplifier modules, Circuit Packs, ROADMs, SDN Whiteboxes and many other advanced photonic products.

In this role, you will be responsible for…

Designing and implementing optical test and verification strategies for internal customers, to bring leading-edge products from initial design and NPI stages to volume manufacturing

Collaborating with engineers in the R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, to help meet or exceed the product requirements

Designing and developing advanced testing methods to address emerging applications

Delivering robust, well-documented, scalable optical tests and completed verification and validation on the targeted products using agile development methodologies

Sharing best practices, influencing, and supporting other engineering teams with optical development activities related to process and test automation

What you will bring to the position…

A Master or PhD in the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related field.

Strong reasoning, troubleshooting and debugging skills

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ability to drive solutions through cross-functional teams in a rapid-pace environment

Experience with electrical and optical test and measurement equipment

Knowledge of optical components and systems

Automation Programming experience

Advantageous for the position…

Experience of design and/or test on optical components and subsystems of optical communications

Experience of test automation to interact with device under test and test equipment

Experience with VB.NET, C# and .NET frameworks and libraries

Familiarity with tools for Agile software development (e.g. Jira), source control (SVN, Git), and peer code review

Worked with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), such as Camstar

Interaction with Manufacturing teams, in either a primary or support role

Understanding of Lean and Six-Sigma concepts and statistics, such as OEE, SPC, GR&R

Device test automation, data gathering and statistical analysis
