We are looking for a: Shipboard Electrician based in Virginia Beach, VA

Shipboard Electricians perform termination, testing, troubleshooting, electrical cable installation/removal, and splicing support on a variety of systems and a variety of ship classes. All candidates must possess or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of the principles of electricity, electronics, shipboard and/or shore installation procedures and shop practices.

Hands on experience in the troubleshooting, repair, operation, installation, test and checkout of Navy ship or shore electronics and electrical systems, antennas and supporting structures, Data systems and LAN and equipment in accordance with Military Standards.

Ability to work from blueprints, drawings, technical manuals, handbooks, and other technical documentation.

Possess sufficient technical skills to work independently and to provide guidance to lower-level installers.

Must be able to mentor junior technicians in the proper techniques for fiber and copper cable installation and terminations.

Conducts various tests or experiments that may require minor modification in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement; selects, sets up, and operates standard test equipment and records test data of the overall task as well as coordination.

Provides daily status report detailing Project status and scheduling updates to Program Manager.

Responsible for Task management including implementation, execution, team leadership and personal management, and final testing and QA acceptance.

Evaluates and corrects technical problems, isolating system malfunctions, and implementing correction actions.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Minimum of four (4) years and a demonstrated ability and knowledge of the principles of electricity, electronics, shipboard and/or shore installations and shop supervision.

Must be certified in Cableway and Connector Building techniques.

Education – High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Graduate of an Apprentice Program in Electronics/Electrical or Communications or possess an Associate degree or Technical School Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Program plus 4 years of Electronic installation experience; or be a High School Graduate and have a minimum of 8 years in the Electronic Installation Industry.
