We are currently recruiting for a Software Development Manager here at TelXL to join our growing in-house development team consisting of both Senior and Junior Developers.
You will undertake the general management responsibilities of the team, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills they need to complete work to an exceptional standard whilst working closely with the CTO to transform the way we do things for the better!
We are undergoing the migration of an established telecommunications platform whilst delivering new and innovative features. The solution is being migrated to, but not limited to .NET / Angular / Docker / SQL Database technologies. This is not an easy feat and will present many challenges which we want you to be confident and competent in handling!
Though this role is not a hands-on development role, you will need to be able to have relatable experience in order to manage the team and be instrumental in implementing new development processes and procedures, whilst effectively managing the change processes and behaviors around this.

Job Purpose:
- Effectively manage the development team conducting 1-1s and Quarterly appraisals, as well as providing advice and assistance to the development team on their day-to-day activities.
- Assign suitable tasks to individual developers and ensure any necessary training and upskilling is completed
- Take responsibility and own the implementation and running of new development processes using Azure DevOps to manage the source code, code reviews, work items and CI/CD Pipelines.
- Ensure communication is maintained across all levels of the business to ensure risks, bottlenecks and issues with projects is reported accurately and in a time sensitive manner, to ensure the smooth delivery of objectives.
Responsibilities Include;
- Work closely with the CTO in order to meet company objectives.
- Manage and track all development tasks, with planned vs actuals and regular updates provided to the relevant stakeholders including, product, operations, technical support and sales.
- You can expect to have direct and ongoing input into the technical roadmap of our product. Identify and plan the adoption of new technologies as well as regularly reviewing current practices.
- Ensure that full release management and source control is followed in both the old and new systems.
- Perform 1-1s, and Quarterly appraisals as well as ah-hoc checks ins when necessary with all direct reports.
- Identify the skills in the team required for the development of the system.
- Assign tasks based on the individuals skills and experience
- Ensure the development team deliver to specified timelines and to a high quality
- Contribute to recruitment activities, such as interviews and creating recruitment roadmaps
