Solutions Architect

This position will be involved in both project and operational activities. Our team is made up of individuals that work well together and are willing to step up when situations require and work on the edge of their comfort zone, so we seek forward-thinking staff that are open to getting to know the telecom industry in a broad fashion.

The prime responsibilities of the Solutions Architect will be to oversee changes to the current application landscape by building out a Road Map for the major applications in our environment, scoping of the work with Vendors, and utilizing working sessions with these vendors to implement changes to the application landscape. You will also be working to develop best practices, deployment guidelines and test procedures for the implementation of solutions into the environment. You will work closely with Operations, Networks Engineering, and our Customer Experience teams and have access to an Applications Support Specialist to assist with Business Analysis as required. The position will be based out of our downtown offices located on the South side of Downtown (East end of the Beltline) and will have some flexibility for work from home situations as required.

The position is offered as a Contract to Hire role.

What you will do:
Own and maintain Roadmaps for Valo’s Core Applications.

Scope and Plan application changes.

Participate in weekly “scrum” meetings, and/or Working Sessions as required.

Direct Vendors in Application Changes in the environment.

Read and Interpret Infrastructure Architectural Documentation.

Document Current State and Propose State Application Documentation.

Propose and Present Changes to various levels of the management team including Executives.

Provide initiative level progress updates as required.

What you will bring to this role:
5+ years of experience in 1 or more IT architectural domains.

Basic understanding of SQL including data structures and proper query building.

3+ years of road-mapping experience in at least one architectural domain.

ITIL Certification or Combination of Knowledge and Experience.

Understanding of OSS / BSS Software and Applications.

BABOK or other Businesses Analysis Certification preferred.

TOGAF or other Architectural Certification preferred.

Agile or other Scrum Master Certification preferred.

Telecommunications experience preferred.

Communication Skills – Able to communicate with various levels of the business at their level.
