Job Summary

The role of Specialist Solution and System Integration is responsible for the successful deployment of advanced Telecom and Wireless Access infrastructure, systems and services. The Specialist ensures that all business requirements are met by team members and projects, and contributes to the global evolution of CN’s I&T. The Specialist is a key player in the team, ensuring the technology delivered is secure, reliable, available, resilient, performant, and aligned with safety standards per business requirements.

Main Responsibilities

System integration

  • Engage with customers to capture requirements
  • Work with Project managers during the planning phases and identify deployment steps and risks
  • Engage external providers and work with Business Planning, Supply Management and Legal teams in the context of procuring delivery and / or support new or existing services
  • Estimate overall solution costs and share information with Project Managers and stakeholders
  • Establish test plans for newly defined solutions and conduct lab testing
  • Based on blueprint and test results in the lab, create Detailed / Functional Design
  • Establish deployment/migration strategy and guide project team and operations
  • Coordinate installation with technicians in the field and/or with business owner
  • Provide support during project migration or deployment, and in case of issues determine appropriate resolution/solution through root cause analysis and impact analysis
  • Conduct Service Introduction to Operations: update documentation, systems, training and presentation

Equipment deployment in lab environment

  • Work with stakeholders to set up test environments for telecom solutions and devices.
  • Install telecom devices (routers, switches, servers, wireless controllers, etc.) and cabling.
  • Prepare equipment to be deployed in the field as requested by stakeholders.
  • Configure the various network elements according to the specifications provided by the project team (typically in the context of PoC, Network and Service evolution or Lifecycle projects).
  • Work with Project managers during the planning phases and identify deployment steps and risks.

Validation and certification

  • Work with the stakeholders to determine and implement the test/validation strategy.
  • Develop and execute methods for the certifications of telecom devices (e.g., Cisco, Juniper etc.)
  • Execute methods for the validation of telecom solutions (e.g., Single Service, Multi -Services) according to the test plan
  • Oversee the evolution of test tool technology with Product management team and Vendors
  • Communicate with vendors regarding device bugs and issues (create vendor tickets for support)
  • Generate test results and present them to the stakeholders

Lab management

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of devices used at CN and their use-cases.
  • Keep up-to-date documentation that reflects the setup, inventory and lifecycle of the lab equipment
  • Maintain sanitized and organized lab environment
  • Managed the access to the lab and the requests for lab testing from the stakeholders
  • Ensure the lab is maintained at industry standard quality levels

Technology Specifics

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience in Telecom /IT industry
  • Expertise in LAN/WAN technologies (BGP, DMVPN, Switching, QoS (Marking, Queuing))
  • Expertise in testing and automation tooling (traffic generator, protocol simulators etc.)
  • Good knowledge of WiFi technology, i.e., Cisco, HP-Aruba
  • Good knowledge of cellular router technology
  • Good knowledge of Security (Zoning, VLAN, VPRN, IPS/IDS, etc.)

Assets:

§ Technical certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP – CCNIE)

§ Automation programming/scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible)

§ Expertise in Datacenter technologies (Leaf and spine technology)

§ Familiar with Juniper, Arista, Digi platform


Requirements


Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related field of study, or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and meet deliverables dates
  • Very good technical documentation skills
  • Very good communication and presentation skills
  • Very good organization skills
  • Leadership skills and ability to influence and guide others on technical matters and methodology
  • Ability to clarify requirements and ensure solution meets business needs
  • Strong sense or prioritization for meeting deadlines
  • Fluent in English. French an asset

Working Conditions

  • This role requires you to be present in the Montreal CN office/Lab
