Sr. DevOps Engineer

Our telecom client, Bell Canada, is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer for a long-term contract. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years of experience in this field.

Key Responsibilities and Job Duties:

• Software builds and deployment using Urban Code Deploy and Jenkins
• Configuration, documentation, and packaging of iteration builds
• Label, checkpoint, promote/demote builds in the release and staging areas
• Promote build issues and reassign them for testing
• Ensure that the developers are effectively using CM tools and following procedures
• Produce and verify nightly feature team builds
• Troubleshoot and resolve build issues
• Document Product installation, configuration, and upgrade procedures
• Review and provide feedback on published installation and configuration documents
• Identify and collaborate with Non-Prod Environment team members to implement process improvements to streamline and automate the build/release process
• Interface with Development, Quality Assurance teams, Application Management and Operations and various IT Support teams
• Optimize the use of hardware resources and reduce tool administration requirements
• Support the distribution of builds into all project delivery environments
• Maintain complete documentation within areas of responsibility

Key Competencies and Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a DevOps Engineer
• 2+ years with Middleware platform administration and tuning experience weblogic
• 5+ years of experience with commercial software product deployment. Design, and implementation
• 3+ years of experience in build/integration specialist role in multi-project JEE environment
• Extensive knowledge of Solaris, Linux, and JEE Application server
• Knowledge and understanding of the development, build, and deployment of commercial (JEE) Java applications
• Excellent in process automation using scripting languages

• Languages/Technologies: Java, ANT, Junit,.Perl, Unix shells, Windows scripting, XML

• Experience in software development, SCM practices, software build technologies, and release management methodologies
• Oracle Service Bus, Oracle Fusion (Weblogic) administration and configuration experience
• Strong team player who is goal-oriented and project driven
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Bell Canada or other telecom experience is considered a strong asset
