Position Overview
Reporting into the Director of National Retail Channel Marketing – the Sr. Manager, Channel Marketing will be responsible for driving marketing efforts for mobile product portfolio in the US working closely with Samsung’s wireless regional carriers and cable operators. Furthermore, the scope focuses on integrated go-to-market planning, market analysis, and best-in-class Samsung Galaxy branded experience within wireless carrier settings. This role will provide thought leadership to multiple marketing and cross functional support teams in mobile marketing, corporate marketing, retail operations as well as multiple agencies in the development of demand and traffic generating marketing campaigns, in-store experiences, promotions, and comprehensive advertising materials & plans, including experiential campaigns. Must develop and deliver executive level recommendations followed by action plans managed to completion.
Role and Responsibilities
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Formulate and manage channel marketing programs, including custom Go-To-Market playbook for regional carriers and cable operators, to support product introductions (Handheld Phone, New Computing, and Mobile Enhancement products) and life cycle management.
- Works with omnichannel teams (Project Management, Product Planning, etc.) to create, update and drive product launch schedules for all new products ranged at assigned carriers
- Establish a comprehensive master launch preparation schedule capturing all key launch milestones and unique requirements for each of the assigned carriers
- Work with SEA Marketing and HQ RPM teams to establish creative asset (e.g. photography, logos, key visuals, messaging, etc.) delivery schedules that support the needs of each assigned carrier
- Work with various internal teams to conduct data collections, research and insight creation to determine unique selling points for assigned carriers
- Work back with broader, central channel marketing team on various strategic acquisition and retention driving initiatives such as hyper-local, regional strategies and execution leveraging Samsung’s content and services and/or other business unit assets to drive sell out and market share growth.
- Manages product marketing, promotion, and advertising programs and materials for specific channels and/or campaign periods
- Collaborate with Cross-functional teams to drive CDM, media, partnership and experiential programming planning and execution while representing appropriate channel partners’ views in order to effectively manage product lifecycle
- Lead the foundational elements of the communication strategy from 1) translation of the target consumer into addressable audiences, communities and opportunity segments to 2) Leading the preparation of the messaging strategies and toolkits
- Responsible for communicating the product positioning throughout the team and assisting the sales organization in developing customer presentations
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company to act as the voice of brand and manager of national priorities
- Present analysis and recommendations to leadership and assist in developing comprehensive channel marketing overview strategy
Background/Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years of experience in channel marketing, trade marketing, or consumer journey marketing. MBA a plus.
- Prior experience in product marketing and project management required
- Prior experience in high-tech, telecommunications environment or retail industries preferred
- Familiarity with marketing and sales channels within high-tech product technology industry preferred
- Social media/digital marketing experience a plus
- Comfortable working in a dynamic fast paced industry and matrix organization with multiple constituents
- Should have advanced MS Excel and MS PowerPoint knowledge and skills
- Most important will be strong communication, both written (PPT presentations) and oral skills
- The ability to work either independently or in a team environment to achieve personal and team project goals, including the completion of assignments within and exceeding established time frames
Skills and Qualifications
Physical/Mental Demands:
Work is generally performed in an office environment. Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal between more than 50% of work time, including prolonged periods of time. Requires considerable work utilizing high visual acuity / detail, numeric / character distinction and moderate hand / finger dexterity. The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time is under 25 pounds. Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenges and project management deadlines. Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include PC’s, printers, copiers, faxes and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area. require working additional hours beyond normal schedule. Travel varies depending on position.
