TEKsystems is looking for a Product Manager for a permanent opportunity with our client. This Product Manager will work between their sales division and engineering division to drive and manager product portfolio for Telecommunications market. They will be in charge of driving the overall roadmap and ensure they are spending time in right areas to increase revenue.

The ideal candidate will have experience owning software product line, and has experience delivering on software. They will work with clients to come up with requirements, then interact with technical managers/engineers to turn vision into reality, role product back out. Also work with Marketing and sales on value adds and how to sell it. Maintain/advance existing customers as well.

As Product Manager for Telecom you will be responsible for creating strong working relationships & influence across executive leadership, product management, engineering and other functional groups to execute the strategy within Grid Software Solutions, Digital, partners and customers. This position will include all aspects of product management as well as helping build company capabilities to provide entire solutions to Utility and Telecom customers.


Job Description

  • As a domain expert for your portfolio, you will engage customers at mid and upper management levels to develop/refine portfolio strategy, influence customer & industry direction, secure investment and execute strategy.
  • The primary domains include the Telecommunications, as well as Utilities.
  • Successful candidates should also have appropriate Geospatial, IT/technology expertise to cover analytics, cloud/services concepts for these industries.
  • As the Product Manager, you will elevate how we engage with internal and external software and other Partner businesses.
  • You will be accountable for driving successful delivery of products from the company’s Software, making recommendations on extending software solutions, and representing the company to the outside market, including customers, partners and analysts.


In this role you will:

  • Responsible for product line performance with targets on orders, revenue, cost & margin. Identify and influence market trends and opportunities.
  • Drives vision & strategy, roadmap and product lifecycle for sub business unit and its portfolio of products & solutions.
  • Participate in events and industry associations to influence the direction for the business and technology in the segment.
  • Be a domain/business expert for the portfolio to guide and mentor teams, and establish/refine product management processes.
  • Work cross functionally across engineering, marketing, sales, internal and external customers, analysts and senior management teams to formulate and execute the strategy.
  • Establish and manage relationship across the company’s businesses & sub-businesses, partners and customers at director level and above and technical expert levels across industries and geographies.
  • Establish strong working relationship with account managers, technical sales and user/developer community. Will need to contribute to key account and opportunity strategies.
  • Global travel required as necessary.
  • This role is responsible for analytics product portfolio a with typical revenue influence / target in the range of $30M-$100M USD per year.
  • Will have strong financial acumen and accountability.
  • Responsible to create strong working relationship & influence across product management, engineering and other stakeholder groups to successfully execute business strategy across this company’s businesses, partners and customers.
  • Will engage customers at director level and above as a trusted partner.
  • Cross functional leadership to define and execute the vision and strategy.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 8 years of industry/technical experience along with established leadership credentials across product lines.
  • Prior knowledge and work experience in telecommunications solutions (PNI, LNI, GIS)


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel
  • This is a global position, including significant focus on UK. Must be willing to adjust/accommodate work hours as needed to complete work requirements
  • Must be willing to work remote or out of an office located in Cambridge/England


Technical Expertise:

  • Proactively drives portfolio and investment decision to balance customer needs, install base requirements (refresh) and long term enterprise differentiation.
  • Evangelizes concepts beyond current offerings and considers business model innovation (product, service and delivery innovations
  • Strong knowledge and prior experience with cloud based (Saas) systems. Requires an overview of how customers fund (capex/opex) and operate in GE-based cloud offerings
  • Working knowledge on telecommunication networks, internal telecommunications enterprise applications, familiarity with GIS & OSS applications.

  • Evangelizes new technology, predicts trends, and identifies new opportunities based on trends
  • Identifies the customer’s business and strategic needs, concerns, and desires for the value delivery capabilities of the products

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Needs to be open to travel (heavy in first 2-3 months) then remote work and very light travel. First few weeks of job will need to be in the UK. The travel will be about 30% per year, going to 3 main showcases (one in US, Europe, and APAC), then some local venues and client travel.

Day-to-Day can really vary, but this individual will be looking at Install base and how is he growing with new function and features, everyday looking at the gaps and where to put their energy, driving initiatives, identifying challenges, etc. Product launches, on the phone with customers and sales team, etc.
