Tridon Communications is seeking Fiber and Structured Cabling Technicians local work in Calgary, AB.

Job Summary

The Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for the assembly, install, repair, and maintenance of telecommunications systems, fiber optic backbone, campus cabling and cabling for wireless access points. This work will be in commercial, industrial and in temporary facilities. Fiber optic work will include installation of cable inside/outside buildings and involves installing field connectors, splicing cables using a fusion splicer, testing utilizing OTDR and Power Meters.

Required Work Experience

  • Installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of structured cable components. (Cat 5E, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Fiber Optic)
  • Installation and testing of communication circuits via available communications cabling network
  • Read and interpret telecommunication drawings and specifications

Education and Training

  • College Technical Diploma or equivalent in a related field preferred
  • Commscope Systimax certification training is an asset
  • Belden certification training is an asset
  • Corning certification training is an asset
  • Panduit Certification is an asset
  • Security, Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Access Control experience is an asset

Must Haves

  • Safety First Mindset with the ability to work safely in hazardous environments such as manholes or from heights
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s License or equivalent (recent Driver’s Abstract will be required upon condition of employment)
  • Ability to pass a pre access drug and alcohol test and maintain the ability to pass subsequent pre access testing
  • Excellent understanding of networking requirements and wiring standards applicable to the telecommunications industry that include codes, standards, and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with clients and team members
  • Customer service focus with excellent customer service skills

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 6 months

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Calgary, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

  • Structured Cabling: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Class 5 Licence (preferred)
