Job Detail

We are looking for summer students as Data Collection Technicians to join our team! In this temporary role (Jul-Sep), you will work in a multidisciplinary environment on reshaping the way telecommunications companies design and deliver their services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain some experience over the summers months before heading back to school in . We have offices in British Columbia in Burnaby and Victoria and in Alberta.

Some of the responsibilities include:

– Review infrastructure asset data on tablets and in Encepta’s desktop systems including GIS data and systems;
– Walk out neighbourhoods (outside in all weather conditions) with tablets to collect and update inventory information, GPS, and pictures of utilities, telecommunication, and infrastructure assets;
– Communicate with team members working in adjacent neighbourhoods;
– Ability to make decisions and problem solve (inventorying assets can be similar to solving brainteasers and it is very helpful to be a systematic, methodical thinker);
– Work with a team lead and coach to help progress you through the job;
– Research and develop new processes and technology;
– Uphold and promote adherence to Training, Operating and Health & Safety Procedures.

We are looking for someone who is/has:

– Ability and eager to work outside (in all weather conditions) on your feet walking much of the day on your own in either an urban or semi-rural settings;
– Smart phone/tablet savvy and comfortable with using apps on iOS and Android platforms;
– A vehicle and class 5 drivers license is required, access to a bike as well is highly beneficial;
– Has working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite;
– Passionate about learning, attentive to detail, collaborative, sharing knowledge and solving unique problems.
