Job Description

Become part of the Cabin and Cargo Design Office as a Systems Engineer (d/f/m) (system design, validation & verification) in the area of Cabin Connectivity and WiFi Systems. Extend your know-how about many aircraft systems in the Cargo & Cabin Electronics environment & shape with us the future of aircrafts through R&D and be part of the digital transformation process of Airbus.

The Airbus Cabin & Cargo Electronics Design Offices are responsible for the cabin and its systems in all Airbus aircraft. We design and develop according to market requirements and support the end product until it is put into operation.

Focus of the work is on connectivity backbone solutions for A350, Single Aisle and Long Range. For cabin and cargo systems, they serve as a gateway to various communication interfaces to the Internet and Airbus Ground infrastructures and services. On top they provide various services for the connected systems, such as an app/virtual machine hosting platform, a central data broker and services in connection with central avionic systems. The work is very varied due to the wide range of possible uses and interfaces of the backbones and the short lifecycles of connectivity standards.

Your Tasks & Accountabilities

  • Creation of the system documentation according to the Airbus development process
  • Validation of the system requirements in the cascade of requirements documents
  • Cross-project cooperation on uniform hardware/software solutions
  • Control of system development/integration with Airbus internal and external suppliers, partly with agile development methods
  • Definition of the system test requirements & control of the system verification activities in the test areas
  • Management of the system verification in the Airbus test areas
  • Identification, definition and review of tasks subcontracted as part of system development

Your Boarding Pass

  • You hold an university degree in electrical engineering, computer science or comparable
  • You bring professional experience in system engineering or a related discipline
  • You have knowledge about the development of server based communication infrastructures in avionics or similar industry domains as an advantage
  • You have knowledge of the following technical disciplines: mobile telecommunications technologies, WiFi technologies, IoT and/or avionics systems, virtualization solutions and IT protocols
  • You are experienced in RBE tools (DOORS etc.)
  • You bring experience with the validation & verification of systems
  • You have experience in agile development methods Agile/Scrum
  • You show strong communication skills and you are a team player willing to learn on the one side and being assertive on the other side
  • Your English is at a negotiation level. German language skills would be a plus

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry.
