Job Description:
As a Product Marketing / Product Manager in Microchip’s Communications Business Unit (CBU), you will part of a team with the mandate to diversify and grow our incumbency and revenue streams in the telecom service provider infrastructure and hyperscale data center market segments, focusing on current and emerging technologies for products targeting Packet Optical Transport Networking (OTN), IP Routers, Ethernet switches and 5G RAN.
In this technical and business-oriented role, you will champion all aspects of market success including idea generation, product definition, strategic customer management, product launch and sales enablement. You will be a highly-motivated individual (a “go-getter”) who will get to develop expertise in the telecom and data center markets, work closely with the sales and R&D organizations within Microchip on the implementation of the marketing or business strategy and support the business ecosystem (customers, sales and partners).
Key Responsibilities:Product Marketing & Product Line Management:
Ensures successful product launches and executes on go to market plans
Develops product positioning, key benefits and differentiation messaging
Develops effective outbound product collateral, sales training presentations and customer presentations
Focuses aggressively on winning designs and driving successful business plans
Develops and maintains internal competitive analysis for sales and product marketing strategies
Partners with sales in articulating the solutions to the customers and develops pricing strategies
Builds and maintains strategic relationships with customers at all levels, including R&D, Procurement and Product Management
Product expert for sales and the customer’s system architects/engineers
Works with internal cross-functional teams to champion customer requirements and issues
Maintains product line business cases to ensure business metrics are met
Market Research and Analysis:
Analyzes market segments to identify new opportunities and develops strategic recommendations based on the analysis (e.g. market sizing, key trends and market inflections, market share leaders, market metrics, etc.)
Monitors emerging requirements and analyzes their impact on product roadmaps and strategies
International travel maybe required.
Requirements/Qualifications:
8+ years of technical and business experience, preferably in technology product management/marketing, technical sales or systems engineering, with prior experience in the telecommunications hardware/software or semiconductor markets would be desirable
Has at minimum an undergraduate degree in Electrical engineering. An MBA or Master degree in a related discipline would be desirable
Has familiarity with Ethernet, IP/MPLS, Optical Transport or Physical layer technologies would be an asset
Understands technical/architectural requirements and has experience interfacing with customers in both R&D and Product Management environments
Has strong written and verbal English communication skills with proven ability in writing white papers, technical documentation and customer presentations
Demonstrates a passion for advanced technology
