Standard Broadband operates one of the largest independent networks in Southern Ontario using Microwave and Fiber Optic base transport.

Job Summary

Standard Broadband is currently looking for a Technical Support Representative. This is a full-time position that requires availability to work rotating shifts from Monday to Sunday. This position will play a critical role in our network support and operations team. The position will include working on all aspects of the network and server environments to ensure up time and reliability is maintained for our customers. Excellent attention to detail and superior communication skills are essential. The candidate must have past experience in a Telecommunications / ISP environment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • provide front line technical assistance via phone, email or ticket system
  • Resolve network and routing problems
  • Monitor and pro-actively address issues that come up
  • Maintain backup systems ensuring all devices and nodes are backed up.
  • Provision hardware and build network links for new customers and upgrades to current customers
  • Maintain VOIP Network, including Hosted PBX, Customer Premise Phone Systems, Phone Line Gateways.
  • Maintain documentation on network and other critical processes

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Have at least one (1) years of technical support experience in an ISP/Telecommunications/Service Provider environment
  • Must speak fluent English
  • Understand and have a working knowledge of VLANs (802.1q)
  • Understanding of Broadband Radio and Microwave Radio would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of Asterisk SIP server or equivalent would be a plus
  • Fluent in Windows desktop and Server operating systems
  • Understanding of Traditional Telephone services such as PRI, Analog as well as SIP Trunking and Hosted PBX would be a plus
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License (G2 or greater) and own vehicle – this is a MUST have
  • Safe Driving record with no suspensions of any kind on your driving abstract
