WORK SCHEDULE:


Week 1 (36 hours) = 3×12

Sunday -> 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM EST

Monday -> 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM EST

Tuesday -> 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM EST


Week 2 (44 Hours): 4×10

Sunday -> 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM EST

Monday -> 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM EST

Tuesday -> 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM EST

Wednesday -> 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM EST


Top Skills Required:


1) Must have 1-3+ years of experience with installing, troubleshooting, maintenance of Data Center equipment


2) Must have extensive experience with signal patching with both copper and fiber cables

3) Must have experience with rack/stack, low voltage cabling, MDF/IDFs, power

4) Great communicator and ability to work in a fast-paced Data Center environment.

BICSI certification preferred but not required

Responsible for detecting, analyzing, documenting, and coordinating timely response to infrastructure service incidents 24x7x365. These service incidents are relayed through various means, and relate to servers, network, facility cabling, power delivery to infrastructure equipment, environmental conditions within data centers and Main Distribution Frame/Intermediate Distribution Frames (MDF/IDFs), and physical security to related spaces. Responsibilities include monitoring, reporting, and following incidents through to resolution.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Supports Information Services teams with new equipment deployments. This includes cabling, powering, and racking equipment at all facilities.
  • Performs site visits and walkthrough inspections at data centers and MDF/IDFs across all UMass Memorial Health Care (UMMHC) sites.
  • Works with campus facilities teams on potentially impacting power, cooling, and construction projects.
  • Manages security access and adds, moves, and changes to all data center and MDF/IDFs.
  • Acts as subject matter expert for power and cooling requirements on new equipment installations.
  • Manages UPS infrastructure through monitoring, proactive maintenance, and scheduled tests.
  • Maintains inventory of data center, MDF/IDFs, structured cabling, power drops, and UPSs.
  • Coordinates new power installation requests and removal of unused power drops within Information Services managed spaces.
  • Coordinates new network cabling installation requests and removal of unused network cabling.
  • Performs validation tests for all new network jack installations.
  • Documents clearly and concisely all activities in ServiceNow ticketing system.


Experience/Skills:

1. A minimum of 1-3+ years of experience in a technical capacity.

2. Must have strong skills in root cause analysis and problem resolution.

3. Must have excellent analytical, communication, and customer interfacing skills, as well as a good working knowledge of back-end data center infrastructure.

4. Must have knowledge of core network architecture and communications infrastructure.

5. Basic knowledge of network hardware, TCP/IP, routing, network security and telecommunication circuits.

6. Must have experience with structured cabling and network wiring.

7. Must be self-motivated with the ambition to problem-solve, learn and create one’s own mechanisms for resolving issues and most importantly, communicate effectively with the ability to work in a team environment. Must be able to work independently.

8. This position requires regular and recurring shift work. Must be willing and available to work rotating shifts. Must be able to travel from site to site as needed.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
