We currently have a need for a Telecom Construction Manager for our Central (Ontario) Field Services division. The Telecom Construction Manager is an operational leader who thrives on working closely with their team to ensure project delivery in alignment with Corporate and customer objectives.

You will:

  • Oversee the site build, installation, and commissioning of projects
  • Ensure the most economical and best construction practices are utilized
  • Review bill of materials to ensure proper usage within client guidelines
  • Monitor and record contractor’s work performance with the contract requirements and conduct final inspections, prepares punch lists, and collect documentation for closing out of contract
  • Track, review and approve closeout documents and general contractor change orders
  • Be responsible for safe work practices and implementing company safety programs throughout the area of responsibility
  • Review and develop performance of all subordinates
  • Approve subcontractor invoices, weekly payroll and equipment reporting for all assigned projects
  • Attend deployment and other customer meetings as subject matter expert for the client
  • Develop customer relationships and trust that lead to additional awards of work
  • Make regular trips to sites during construction including bid walk, pre-con walk, in progress site visits, punch walks and construction closeout. Provide direction to general contractors when doing groundwork
  • Understand prevailing rates for all construction work and ensure the client is receiving competitive rates for quality work
  • Negotiate costs within the scope of project, hold Vendors accountable to ensure budget is maintained; ensure District and/or Program and Project Managers and customers are aware of issues that will impact project completion or cost
  • Work to solve problems or issues that may occur onsite and make recommendations based on priority and need to ensure the project and budget are maintained
  • Make sure all work is completed in accordance with the client’s construction standards, processes, and procedures
  • Ensure accurate and complete files are maintained for projects, closeout documents are distributed in a timely manner and are in accordance with corporate and customer standards and all jobs are maintained in a project tracking system with complete accuracy

You have:

  • Vast experience in the full life cycle of cell tower projects. Hands on experience, willing to travel on the road up to 40% of on-duty hours
  • Proven time management and organizational skills
  • Drive to succeed and able to work flexible hours and under pressure
  • An independent work style and ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Experience in new site build construction, UMTS site construction or LTE site construction (preferred)
  • A personality that is flexible and comfortable with ambiguity – Trylon is a company going through lots of changes. There is a need to be flexible and adapt to changes as they unfold
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation and training skills.
