Telecom Drafter / AUTOCAD

Telecom America Services, Inc. is a telecommunications design firm specializing in fiber-to-the-home design based in San Marcos, Texas.

We are looking for a team-oriented self-starter with a desire to advance who is interested in a position where you will be working closely with fellow design team members to produce construction prints and permanent records of outside plant communications networks.

Must be experienced in telecom design and AutoCAD.

GIS database entry experience a plus.

CAD/GIS Technician Tasks:

– Perform drafting and GIS functions as required by the customer’s requirements.

– Perform CAD/GIS work utilizing GPS and AutoCAD based software.

– Assist engineers with field work as necessary to define best placement options,measure and document design criteria.

– Communicate with clients and internal resources to complete design prints and associated permits.

– Identify and resolve data discrepancies in designs and records prior to project delivery.

CAD/GIS Technician Requirements:

– Minimum of 1 year experience or education utilizing GIS and CAD, especially AutoCAD.

– Experienced and knowledgeable of communications outside plant, construction design prints, telecom fiber and copper construction experience a plus, but can be taught.

– GPS knowledge a plus.

– Previous knowledge of telecommunications a plus.

– Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook

– Working knowledge or ability to learn the following applications: FME, ESRI, Pathfinder Office, Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server(AIMS),and Google Earth.

Pay: $18.00 -$23.00 per hour; Compensation commensurate with experience
