Telecom Engineer

Description:

Accountable for installing and maintaining all telecommunication systems. Provides technical information and documentation relating to the equipment and associated costs. Assists with documentation for telecommunication systems, network cabling infrastructure, and distribution facilities. Assists Telecommunication Engineers in the planning and design of various telecommunication projects and systems. Assists customers with the use of telecommunications equipment.

In additional to answering the break/fix tickets. They will be upgrading around 4,000 devices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Performs relocation, installation, and removal of telecommunication devices and equipment.
• Performs MDF/SMDF/IDF maintenance, cross connects and maintains network switchport description information.
• Tests and troubleshoots all network Layer 1 horizontal wiring. Works with approved vendors to provide repairs and warranty related work.
• Receives shipment of inventory and maintains needed levels of inventory at designated locations.
• Assists customers with the use, functionality, and features of telecommunication devices and equipment.
• Assists vendors and Network Communication Engineers with UPS and battery backup relocation, installation, and removal.
• Assists with UPS and battery backup field related trouble tickets.
• Provides support for the Distributed Antenna Systems and Microcell Repeaters and Antenna Systems for in building resources.
• Assists with projects, device configurations, documentation, and resources as needed.
• Provides on-call services when required as part of team on-call rotation schedule.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
