Telecom Field Engineer (Contract)

LightPath Communications LLC

Dallas-based LightPath Communications is seeking highly motivated recruits for multiple Telecommunications Field Engineer positions. The role of a Field Engineer in Telecommunications is to collect data and assess key pieces of information for outside plant communications networks, including CableTV, Fiber Optic (Long Haul & FTTH), and Telephone networks. Some of the types of projects we perform include DOT Permitting, Utility Pole Surveys, Surveys for 5G and Small Cell Sites, Inside Building Surveys, and More.

Field engineers are akin to land surveyors and use a variety of similar tools, including measuring wheels, height measuring sticks, distance measuring lasers, underground locators, GPS tools, Tablet Computers, etc. Most of the work we perform is done in an outside environment, with much of our time spent following, observing and recording information directly in the field.

Travel is a key part of our line of work, as we are going to where the networks are located in order to gather information about those systems for the purposes of upgrading or building new networks in each area. We cover all regions of the U.S., and some projects have already taken us as far away as the U.S. Virgin Islands in the past and may offer opportunities around the world as our company continues to grow and the demand for these specialized services continues to rise over the coming years.

Although Telecommunications Engineering is a specialized field, it draws upon a variety of basic skillsets that you may already possess, including visual observation/detection, problem-solving, penmanship, hand drawing, basic math and more. The opportunity to earn increases with the willingness to travel and be diligent in your work while traveling. Time spent in the field is valuable and lucrative, offering us the flexibility of earning more within less time, and allows us the flexibility to return home regularly. This is not a “9-5” job, it truly is an adventure! You will see and experience more of the areas in which you work. The work we perform offers not only the opportunity to learn about the networks we document but also about the people and places where we are traveling.

If you are responsible, self-motivated, enjoy the outdoors, have a strong work ethic, appreciate opportunities to earn more based on your own productivity, have a strong desire to travel, and are willing to learn and grow with us, this may be the position you’ve been looking for! We currently have training opportunities available, and we are looking for recruits to start immediately on projects across the country.

These are 1099-Independent Contractor positions, so you will be responsible to track and pay your own taxes and healthcare needs. Our competitive production pay provides YOU with the ability to increase your income in direct proportion to your effort. Your success is our mission! We look forward to meeting you soon!
