Job Detail

The Telecom Project Designer is the latest opportunity to join our growing team at Encepta.

In this role, you will work in a multidisciplinary environment on reshaping the way telecommunications companies design and deliver their services.

We are looking for someone to design new networks and projects of varying complexity within the telecommunications atmosphere. Working with internal and external resources you will take full ownership of telecommunications utility designs. You will need top notch communication skills, as well as the ability to learn, build and adapt quickly to changing technology and processes.

Some of the responsibilities include:

– Performing outside plant telecommunications design, including civil, cable, and pole line design, for fibre networks (GPON/FTTP), coax cable and HFC.
– Mentorship and Training of new hires on Telecommunications Project design
– Performing 2-D drafting using AutoCAD to support designs
– Performing site visits and using technology to collect measurements, observations, and photos
– Coordinating design components to ensure complete design package completion, including correcting missing information, quality checking, revisions, and ensuring as constructed is accurate per plan
– Communicating effectively and building positive relationships with team members.
– Research and development of new processes and technology
– Understanding and correctly applying industry specifications and standards as directed.
– Upholding and promoting adherence to Training, Operating and Health and Safety Procedures.

You bring:

– A minimum of 5 years Technical expertise of Outside Plant telecommunications network design principles and processes
– A certificate, degree or other accredited training in Telecommunications, CADD, Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering Technician or Technologist.
– Currently holding or eligible for professional designation (P.L., PTech, AScT, CET, CTech, etc)
– Demonstrated drafting skills in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
– Experience with spatialNET software
– Excellent problem-solving skills; able to think things through to arrive at a solution
– Ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members effectively
– Proven capability as a mentor and trainer
– Proven ability to assist with QA, Project Management and Functional Manager duties.
