Ops Manager of Subcontracting for Telecom Construction
Location: Buford, GA – Remote local to office. Relocation Assistance offered.
Position Overview
The Subcontractor Program Manager is responsible for the full subcontractor cycle from recruitment through termination across all divisions and projects of the company. This position will focus initially on the sourcing and acquisition of subcontractors to support current projects to meet our immediate needs while working to develop company-wide processes and procedures for a robust subcontractor management program. A successful candidate will have FTTH/Telecommunications construction and engineering knowledge and experience. He/she must be goal oriented and a motivated self starter who places a high priority on developing and maintaining positive team dynamics and working relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Engage with Program Managers and Operations Support Managers on a weekly basis to define and plan for current and future resource needs for projects in the areas of engineering, aerial construction, underground construction and fiber splicing and testing
- Facilitate continuous subcontractor lead generation, recruitment, and relationship building via advertisements on social media platforms, industry websites, previous connections, telecom companies database, vendors, referrals, etc.
- Create and maintain a robust subcontractor database to include contact information, capability, performance records, scope details, signed contract and change orders, availability, etc. in order to determine compatibility with current project needs
- Develop and maintain professional and respectful working relationships with subcontractors, pitching project scope of work , location and rates, and future projections and expansions so the needs can be fulfilled
- Interface with the Contract & Licensing Manager regarding rates and documents needed in order to secure MSAs
- Negotiate rates, terms, and incentive plans with subcontractors balancing labor quantities & needs with companies’ margins and in keeping with parameters established by Contract and Project Management
- Follow up on a regular basis with current subcontractors on site to ensure overall agreement compliance and satisfaction; Interface with Project Managers and Subcontractors to resolve project roadblocks or setbacks
- Receives requests; obtains estimates; updates records, initiates paperwork and follows up on request for approval of work not previously covered in the contract; processes and obtains approval of contract changes.
- Provide Executive team with appropriate and accurate data for project estimating and projections
- Develop and implement a company wide subcontractor management and recruitment process
- Oversee subcontractor onboarding and project set up including orientation to ‘AEG way’, timing, travel, lodging, equipment transport, etc.
Requirements
- 4+ years Telecommunications construction & engineering or relevant contract/vendor relationship work experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or any equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Experience in project or operations management covering a broad spectrum of business disciplines to include contract management, cost accounting, risk management, and quality assurance
- Strong business ethics, integrity, and ability to perform in highly autonomous environments
- Excellent customer service skills that build high levels of customer satisfaction for internal and external clients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, interpersonal, team, negotiation, conflict management and time management skills
- Strong presentation skills; Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
- Strong internal and external relationship management skills; Resourceful and proactive in gathering information and sharing ideas
- Industry sales experience preferred
- Experience with marketing/clickbait, social media, and advertising
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, project management software familiarity preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
